Rowan's Riders

Foreword

Welcome everyone to the collection of ideas and regulations behind the elite Cavalry group belonging to Minas Ithil, the home of heroes. In honor of this Elite Group's first volunteering commander, the group originally took and still bears the official name "Rowan's Riders",
more formally referred to as the Mounted Knights of Minas Ithil.

The Commander's Introduction

Still a little green around the edges as a single coherent group, this book is a collection of regulations that the Mounted Knights observe. We're still setting up rules and recruiting members, so join up while it's still new and gain a custom title. Being part of the Rider's is an honour, not a duty, and if you feel under pressure or unwelcome, you are quite welcome to leave at any time. We're all brothers and sisters on horseback, and I personally want you to feel like one.

Within Rowan's Riders, each and every rider is allowed a personal custom title, though the Commander's title remains the same. The rank of Commander in the Mounted Knights grants the honorary title of Knight Templar, the second in command the rank of Knight Lieutenant, and the third the rank of Lieutenant. With the King's blessing, perhaps after the Mounted Knights show their ferocity in battle, the three commanding officers may bear their titles as their official ones.

Finally, as with any elite group, we have an banner to distinguish us from the rest of the run-of-the-mill soldiers. Ours stands for the distinguished pride we hold as Ithilians and we carry it and bear it proudly. Soon enough, the entirety of Atamara will know and respect our banner: =]V[][=

Battle Readiness

As with any Elite Group, Rowan's Riders observe a certain standard to ensure our own personal units are battle-ready and above the run-of-the-mill average unit. Quality over quantity. Cavalry are indeed expensive to hire, and should not be treated as average soldiers. That is a good way to waste our proud realm's hard-earned tax gold. As a general rule, a minimum unit of Cavalry is 20 men, where the maximum should fall at about 40, if normal tax gold is your only source of income.

• 20 Cavalry - A Patrol
• 25 Cavalry - A Regiment
• 30 Cavalry - A Platoon
• 35 Cavalry - A Battalion
• 40 Cavalry - A Legion

As member of the Elite Mounted Knights, one should strive for a certain combat strength per the unit of men that one is in charge of. Beside that is also the minimum expected CS for each group size.

• 350 CS (minimum 300 CS) for a Patrol ~20
• 400 CS (minimum 375 CS) for a Regiment ~25
• 500 CS (minimum 450 CS) for a Platoon
• 600 CS (minimum 525 CS) for a Battalion ~35
• 700 CS (minimum 600 CS) for a Legion

These are the recommended amount of Paraphernalia per unit, though I do encourage the purchase of extra banners.
