It is with a heavy heart that I lead this, our second issue, with news that has no doubt had time to sink in for every Minas Leon nobleman and noblewoman. Claudius Motosuwa, former Prince of Silnaria, the man who renounced his realm and exposed it for the dank puddle of sick that it is, was executed on October 30th according to the Lazlonian Calendar. This news aggrieved me deeply, as Claudius had been a sole voice of reason amid the din of inbred cacophony during my ill spent time as a noble in Silnaria. When Claudius joined Minas Leon, I was sincerely overjoyed to see his sword pledged to the righteous powers of our monarch. Now that his sword arm lay dormant, I find myself aimless and distraught- continually mulling over how I might try to eulogize him in these pages. To begin, it may help to ask for what crime was Claudius executed. For what treacherous deed did he stand accused? It is in this light that the starkest contrast between Silnaria and Minas Leon might be seen. Claudius Motosuwa, much like our liege lord King Raoul, left his dying realm in an effort to protect the peasants and nobility under his watch. Like a caring father, he took seriously his oaths of fealty- oaths which do not demand empty pledges of obedience, but which ask for obedience in exchange for protection. As Silnaria descended into chaos and petty buggery, as Claudius found himself disenfranchised and thrown out of a position to restore order to his realm (and thus protect his people), he did the sole thing he could do- he pledged his oath of fealty to our King -our just King- and sought to bring his peasants over with him. Yet the Silnarian horde did as the Silnarian horde does, and they brutalized the Shanandoan people into submission. They declared Claudius Motosuwa a traitor to their realm for refusing to willingly subject his people to their inane twattle any longer. Then when they dug their claws into him and threw him into their dungeons, they murdered him before he could continue to threaten the realm with his mere existence. We noble heroes of Minas Leon place the Feudal Oath as our foundation, our keystone, and our centerpiece. Though Claudius Motosuwa lived most of his life outside of Minas Leon, his exemplary dedication towards that Oath, even as it led him to his death, will serve as a beacon for all Minas Leon nobles. Let our blades not cease until we see Silnaria destroyed and Sir Claudius avenged. |

A debilitating sickness has seemed to spread throughout the Minas Leon lands, plaguing primarily those of noble birth. While peasants and sheepherders fend off the Undead, Yetis, and Dire Wolves of the plains, the Nobles seem to be fighting off a sickness of dour and bored complexion. No less than two nobles have yawned their way back to their family estates, leaving the regions under their care leaderless for short periods of time- and this following the many abdications prior to them! To be sure, this is the privilege of every noble- one can be as active and as inactive as one may choose to be- but the rate at which Minas Leon seems to be losing nobles due to languor should nonetheless be viewed with some worry given the size and expansion of our realm. Yet what an expansion we have seen. The campaign against the non-realm Silnaria continues to drive forward unabated. Our armies threw Silnarian domestic poltics into turmoil when we instigated the Elorth peasantry to renounce their prior masters, and despite a few singular noble people making symbolic stands against the Silnarian strongholds of Shanandoah and Barad Gardor, our army has been virtually undefeated on the field. Nowhere has this been more apparent than the multiple-day showdown between Silnarian and Leonian forces in Beleriel. Located just under the shadow of Barad Falas, the capital of Silnaria, Beleriel was an extremely bold choice of target by our fearless leaders. No doubt spurred on by such behavior, our troop leaders successfully held the field in Beleriel from the moment they set foot there on October 23rd until the orders to leave almost a week later. Time and time again Silnarian nobles threw their peasantry into the meatgrinder that is our noble army. In the duration of the Beleriel campaign, our forces have even successfully captured and injured two Silnarian nobles. It is thus, with great joy in my heart, that I enthusiastically praise the glorious abilities of both our Armies and our Military Command. Huzzah! Huzzah! |
By Lazlo Lemont II | Eston Waffles and Lyonesse Spews | Foreign News Update |
As the Minas Leon armies continue to trounce the field with the cesspit-realm Silnaria, other nations have seen an opportunity to develop good karma for themselves. King Tanver of Eston rallied his troops in an attempt to stall our efforts, though through diplomatic chicanery and an unwillingness to completely ignore the justness of our cause, he has thus far avoided declaring war on the side of Silnaria. King Tanver insists that "Eston is not interested in Minas Leon regions, but simply preventing further damage to Silnaria." Given the recent actions of the Silnarian beasts, it would give this editor pause to wonder whether King Tanver might reconsider his defense of this blot upon the Atamaran map. At the time of this writing, it is believed that Eston troops have thus far not taken part in any skirmishes against Minas Leon troops. Far more egregious were the statements of Queen Nifelleisca of Lyonesse. Freshly elected to her position, it was obvious from the communique printed below that Queen Nifelleisca was uncultured in the way of communicating to other rulers:
In a final note, the Barony of Makar continues to soldier on after signing away their lands last month. Reduced to the region of Tellwood, Dictator Edgar Blackmane and Duke Godfrid maintain a small coterie of Vikings around their estates. What these two nobles may decide to do is any Noble's guess, but whatever happens we at The Leon's Roar will continue to report it to you. |
