Hollow boasts of the Republican Pirates
Amidst the negotiations between Aurvandil and Madina (as mediated by the realms of D'Hara, Caerwyn, Barca, Terran and the Grand Duchy of Fissoa) the current Grand Doge of Madina (Vallyn Rothach) boasted of the "failures of Aurvandil" to prevent starvation in Candiels, clearly ignoring that the namesake city and former capital of Madina city, starved itself into revolt only weeks before, to then be recaptured and subsequently starved into revolt again, more than Forty-Thousand peasants died in the starvations of Madina alone, Tens of Thousands more peasants dying the starvation and attacks upon their lands by rogue, with near enough the majority of the lands of Madina isle now rogue and in the grasp of starvation, the Grand Doge's ludicrous claims quickly fall on death ears. However, the result of this raises only more questions as to why Madina is so devoted to attacking the flourishing Kingdom of Aurvandil, whilst their own lands so perilously suffer and starve, refusing to serve the Madinan republic. It was further publicly noted that the city of Candiels, our fair capital was at a higher state of control and loyalty to Aurvandil, than Madina's capital of Tower Fatmilak was to them, despite the heavy starvation and brutal Pirate occupation of Candiels.

Royalist Forces victorious, the Pirates driven back
The Hausos Knights of Auziwandilaz reigned victorious after days of urban warfare against the Pirates. The victory comes as the Pirates, forced from an actual occupation and take over of the city, took up an encampment outside the city, in which the Hausos Knights where subsequently able to man the Stronghold walls of Candiels, and barring the Pirates from entry into Candiels, after much heavy fighting the Pirates, with no stomach for genuine fighting (Undoubtedly why they use attacks by surprise to avoid actual fighting) soon retreated, even with a considerably large and stronger force than the one posed by Aurvandil. With the expulsion of the occupying Pirate force, the Aurvandil government was quickly reinstated and the forced starvation of the peasants enacted by the Pirates, ended, great festivities where held in the capital, made even greater by the arrival of the Prime Minister of D'Hara to personally sign into effect, a peace treaty between Aurvandil and D'Hara, and to also ensure that a ceasefire is upheld, and no further Pirate aggression and black market activities continued.

An attempt on the life of the High Sovereign
After much valiant fighting in the city and capital of Candiels, High Sovereign and Duke Mendicant's personal guard were beaten back and the High Sovereign dragged away and captured by the Vagabondic Pirates of Madina, with great haste they scurried him across the channel to Tower Fatmilak, before the Royalist forces of Aurvandil could reclaim their Sovereign. Shortly thereafter the Lord Court Master of Madina (Abbot the Usurper) declared that he would have the High Sovereign executed. His own gaolers, sickened by his proposed act of unjust regicide defended the High Sovereign and under the guise of taking him to his execution, took him to the port and gave him a berth on a local fishing boat, allowing the High Sovereign to escape unharmed from the treacherous grasp of the Pirates. Upon his return to Candiels, his people, invigorated by his valour and escape, averted the Madinic take over for a second time, and the Hausos Knights Of Auziwandilaz marched back into the city limits, staging another great fight in the city.

Breaking news: The Vagabonds and Pirates lead a shocking attack on the city of Candiels
For many weeks now, the city of Candiels had starved, not due to a lack of agricultural produce, or by over population, but through the manipulation of black markets by the Pirates, who corrupted our traders and ransacked our store houses and silos, thousands died in Candiels due to the spite and malice of the Pirates. Madina city, the namesake city of the Madina, and the former capital also starved and declared itself independent from Madina for a second time, with most of the Madina isle under rogue control, and all the densely populated areas of Madina refusing to serve the republic, it would seem that all are resisting the Pirates tyranny. With the Hausos Knights of Auziwandilaz fighting in the north, enacting humanist works to defend the population from the northern rogues, and to help build a land bridge with the northern "forest" realm of Barca, and the Urban Cohorts, abandoning their duties, the Pirates saw their opportunity and took it, leading a full scale strike on the city of Candiels; knowing that the armies of Aurvandil where abroad in the north, exhausting themselves in an effort to protect the peasants, and spread civilisation across the north. Following the Pirates attack on Candiels City, there was an immediate international outcry, as all could see that Aurvandil was working for the betterment of its northern neighbours and its own people, with no desire or interest in war, and with the Madinan Isle starving and revolting, all would assume the Pirates would make it their first priority to protect and safeguard their own peasants; however they gladly let them starve and fall victim to Monsters so that they may lead an assault and occupation on a city of free people.

The Urban Cohorts renege upon their oath and service!
As the starvation continues to grow at an exponential rate, with the peasants unable to pay taxes to pay for the Urban Cohorts, the entire militia Cohorts of Candiels declared that they would no longer serve the High Sovereign or the city, as they are oath bound to do, citing that they were not being paid or fed sufficiently. In their unlawful resignation, the front line against economic sabotage falls, leaving it to the personal knights and soldiers of the High Sovereign to put an end to the Black Market. Speculations continue to spread that the Captain of the Urban Cohorts received a substantial stipend of foreign gold for his betrayal, these rumours where further fuelled when the Captain was later seen boarding a ship in the Candialien port, undoubtedly heading to the Pirate republic.

Starvation worsens
After the immediate success of the secession, and a great era of prosperity, in which Candiels and its duchy expanded further than ever seen before, the population at an all time high, once again it was the Candielian people who suffer from the profiteering and malice of the Pirates. Seeing the huge success and profits made by Aurvandil, and its successful military and expansionist endeavours, the Pirates knew a fear and jealousy they could not tolerate; and so they sent their agents and their traders, firstly to enact black market deals to purchase Aurvandilan food, and secondly to spread corruption and profiteering over the stewards of Candiels. In this they were highly successful in their covert war tactics, many thousands soon began to die as Aurvandil desperately tried to root out the problem of this starvation, and expand its own farmland holdings. In a public announcement the High Sovereign declared he would use his own wealth and treasury to provide Candiels with food, rather than see his people suffer, in the same speech he declared that he would have his Urban Cohorts, the elite militia defenders of Candiels, work in conjunction with his bureaucrats and Chancellor to root out all corruption and profiteering, and that those responsible for this most abhorrent of starvations, would be publicly brought to justice.

Madina City Revolts for a second time
Madina continues to suffer from their own Privateering ways, as Madina city under heavy starvation and duress by the heavy handed tyranny of the Pirates, revolted and declared its independence from Madina, much as Candiels did, however where Candiels had a nobility to form a coherent government and Kingdom, Madina cities revolution is that of commons and the low ranking nobles, unable to form a government, or not one that anyone cares about. The plight of the Madinan people however, will always be mirrored in the Kingdom of Aurvandil, founded in a desire for freedom and autonomy from Pirate tyranny and profiteering, to which the Candielian people where always the first to suffer from. The Grand Doge Abbot stepped down from his rule in order to become Duke of Madina City, hinting further at the political oligarchy now in control of the Republic.

The Free State of Averoth falls, the High Sovereign offers peace.
In some of the largest battles ever seen on the continent, the mighty northern Stronghold of Valkyrja, the erstwhile capital of Averoth, fell to unseen numbers of foreign foes, the last bastion of independence and free lands of the north have been subjugated to Astromancian control; when news of the devastating defeat of the "League of Free Nations" forces in the north, the High Sovereign wrote to the Grand Doge Abbot (The Usurper) requesting that they accept unconditional peace, and that they work together to support the last free realms of Dwilight against religious tyranny; the Usurper Abbot is cited as having mocked the High Sovereign and declaring his attempts as a ploy to attack Madina, or an act of cowardice, he then went on to declare his intentions to execute the High Sovereign and his government, to occupy and tyrannify the Candielian people, forcing them to surrender to his control.
