About the Region
As the southernmost stronghold of Carelia, Wayburg is an ancient and very proud city in South Atamara. It has been the jewel of the western shores since time began and is surrounded by grand parries and grasslands stretching east to the Mountains of Monagle and beyond. On a clear day the peaks of the Monagle Mountains can be seen clearly cresting the horizon with a promise of more wonders beyond. Being ideally situated on the west coast, Wayburg boasts a massive fishing industry and is a center for trade coming from the southern Realms, with routes to both the east and north. Its strategic location has proven its pivotal role in wars. The city has a rich history that dates backs further than the short-lived realm of Kybcyell or even the long lived realm of Abington. During its many years of service the city has seen many important events in the history of the southern Isles. One of its most note worthy events has been the great many Dukes that have been graced by the city.
Within the city you will find a huge building that promotes the past glory of the city and its former Dukes or Duchess. There are also many statues within the city celebrating the service of these Dukes and Duchesses. In addition these great men and women are immortalized within the halls of the Great Leaders of Wayburg Museum.
The city has many things to offer from rich clothing to fine entertainment with a huge fleet of fishing boats that scour the seas for its bounty and many luxury vessels for the enjoyment of nobles who wish to sail the ocean. Additionally, there is a thriving distillery business that boasts a great variety of great brews, ales and meads, plus a nice variety of wonderful spirits and whiskeys.
With a large and prosperous minor nobility and a huge caste of merchants, Wayburg has access to commerce and trade of every kind. Further, many of the cities nobility have moved on to become great leaders for Abington, Caergoth, and Carela, and several religions with each being mentioned within the halls of the Museum.
