The Steel family came to the continents from the mysterious island of Pearl. Pearl (location unknown) was apparently destroyed by a massive earthquake that split the island into two pieces. Most of the commoners and royalty on Pearl was killed, however the legendary Steel family with their great wealth was able to escape. Lord Cartel Steel- the family Patriarch- however decided to stay back and help the commoners escape. The Steel children (and each of the personal bodyguards) were the only survivers and managed to make it across the ocean to the continents. Most took up home in Far East, except the oldest son Kezia, who got lost in a storm and landed in the Colonies.
