====Black Hole==== ''July 8th, 1007 by Otto''
It has been a while since the last posting here, but a newsflash is needed. The path of Avalon is important, for now and the future. A lot has happened. Since the invasion started, our diplomatic status with Enweil & Rof has changed a lot. Undead’s & our army stopped the takeover of Zod and pushed back enemy forces. But bigger worries needed our attention and this was the case in every realm. We put our current conflicts on hold and agreed to a ceasefire with Enweil & Rof. Later this changed into peace to improve relations. In the mean time Avalon went trough a difficult time. There was a big debate going on in the senate about the future of the realm and the actions that were going to be taken. This got so heated up that chancellor Galvin exiled some of the eldest and best councilmembers and giving info towards enemy realms. Since Avalon is a true democracy, caused a big riot and rebellion started. This caused our knights choose sides and fight each other and causing many other problems in the realm. It were dark times and discussion heated up further. Since the rebel forces outnumbered Galvin and his loyalists, the battle silenced but Avalon had still a long way to go. Councilmembers were reinstated, elections were held but it took weeks before our regions were back in order. Starvation is now under control and our army is also almost back into it’s old shape. Since then, Scarlet became again our Chancellor. All other positions (General Otto, Judge Jelpot, Banker Bulwyf) were reconfirmed and with refreshed faith and newfound trust among the knights in the realm. Avalon has crawled out of the hole and is fully back. Off course, nothing stays quiet on this island. A new enemy has risen up, Daimons. They have big hordes of sometimes flying creatures and are extremely strong. We have yet to battle them but fights are happening around us and so, we are heading towards some hard but interesting times.

It started with some small rumours from the more northern & western realms. But soon it became clear, a new invasion of monsters and undead hordes is upon us. Hordes of around 250 necromanciers resulting in about 4000 or 5000Cs occupied a few regions. The news spread like a fire and all realms immidiately started talking to eachother. It was nice to see how even enemy realms wanted to help out each other. Beacuse this threat was one the entire continent faced. And this would get ugly. But the biggest surpirse was not the invasion itself, it was that every horde had a leader. They quickly stated their demands: they want special artifacts and items recovered by adventurers or bought by regionlords. Every Ruler & General discussed how they would deal with this matter. But off course, no one had a the answers and we would have to wait and see. Not long after the first scoutings, Avalon also had the company of an undead horde lead by Hannibal in their lands. As we are not a hostile people we off course tried to talk with Hannibal. He demanded 4 items or he would simply take them with force. For now, the horde has only caused lowered production and did not slay our troops. But this can change quickly. Our current enemy, Enweil tries to take advantage of this situation. As we had slayed their looting troops, their main force, angry with this and upset over the losses advanced into Zod, our stronghold we had to leave behind in order to prevent other takeovers. After the reports of undead's, all realms quickly put their wars on hold and agreed to a cease fire. Enweil made a proposal for this also, but unlike other realms, this one had strict conditions. They demanded that Orombo would be given to Rof and we would get Darhauyo back. As Orombo lies very close to our capital, this was not an option. And because the council stated that with the upcoming invasion, it would not really matter. But they tried to force the proposal upon us as they would takeover Zod if we did not agree. Again the council heavily debated over this matter and the decision was that this was an unhuman and disgusting act from Enweil and we could not agree. Off course, they are now in the process of taking over Zod. Since it will take them a while, we will see how their plan works out. | It started with some small rumours from the more northern & western realms. ====Black Hole==== July 8th, 1007 by Otto It has been a while since the last posting here, but a newsflash is needed.
====Darhauyo taken, Ippetimbal under heavy fire==== May 25, 1007 by Otto Enweil did his move and attacked Darhauyo. Their timing was unfortunately not ideal for us as we had just tried to take Villrill and many of our allied troops were on their way back. As immediately after the battle, they took over the region and occupied it with a huge force. On the other side of Avalon, a small but strong force attacked Ippetimbal. Baron Otto was outnumbered 4to1 but stayed unfearfull and fought hard. His unit was killed after a few battles. In sheja, some friends gathered to counter this force. But just before we had enough troops, Enweil's troops fled the region. Scared to loose, something we are not. They caused a lot of destruction in the region but nothing we can't fix. In the mean time, Darhauyo is still under enemy control. But we have high hopes as even our allies from Thalmarkin came to our aid and fronen is again under way to fight beside us. Our new general has his work cut out for him. But with these troops and knights behind him, we must surely take back Darhauyo. ====Confusing Elections in a time of war==== May 24, 1007 by Otto It were strange days lately in our beloved realm. Scarlet stepped down as General to attend other time consuming tasks. In the hours after this, there was not one candidate that presented himself. In the end, Demonte put his name forward. But surprisingly enough it was Hector who won the election as he was a strong voice in the previous General election and many peoplo did not change their voting settings. Another surprise came when Hector seemed unavailable. This off course did made planning or ordering around a bit confusing. Luckily our Leader Galvin stepped in and did the ordering. Just in time, in the night before a new election, Hector woke up and took his place as General. But in the mean time, other candidates had spoken up for the General position. This was all very strange and left many off us with mixed and unsatisfied feelings. What will happen next? But no worry, this is Avalon! ====Numerous Enweil attacks, stubborn Villrill==== May 12, 1007 by Otto The last few days, Enweil has apparently found itself a new strategy. Small troops have attacked multiple places. Are they just travelling towards a common place or is this their new approach. Tey gren, Sheja, Darhauyo, Henhower, Norjke and Wilwau have al been attacked in the last week. In most places, Enweil was unable to do much damage thanks to the lack of major combat strength. But Avalon has showed it is stronger and more durable and has a very mobile and unfearfull army and that does not run from the battlefield. The Enweil troops have allready lost numerous of these small battles and their strength is declining. Nonetheless we should stay alert. Our major forces are still stationed in Villrill and together with Fronen, we have made the Republic very weak and it is ready to fall. Unfortunately, they are more stubborn then we thought and it will take some time to takeover their forts. But with the will and determination of the past weeks carried on, we stand strong and are on the winning path. ====Trying to get a hold on Piwani==== March 21, 1007 by Thorson We had to keep every article about our plans about Piwani a secret. But it's now obvious what our intentions are. We want Piwani under Avalonian banner the same as Enweil tried it with Darhauyo. First we were not sure what or how we would do Piwani. Looting has not been long on the table as it would reduce our chances of a Friendly Take Over ( FTO ). But the sympathy towards us dropped after a failed FTO was initiated. That and some looting by other realms, this is offcourse unconfirmed. After the failed attempt we had no option but to choose a Brutal Take Over ( BTO ). I must say whole Avalon wished it was different but unfortunately war doesn't make it easier. With Enweil getting troops together in Ketampkin, the race is on ! Enweil now has about 1200 men with mostly Infantry and enough Cavalry. The East Coast Alliance ( name not ratified ) holds 1500 men with very different units but also Infantry as base. It's Enweils call to meet or be meat, Avalon will hold this region. A Short Interview with Lord Bulwyf, the New Avalonian Minister of FinancesMarch 12, 1007 by Bulwyf and Thorson
T: First, we would like to hear a little more about your background, both before and after coming to Avalon. B: Well, my family originates from Atamara, from the just realm of Carelia, and the calm and beautiful region of Forblane. We are three siblings: Me, a middle brother named Uthar, and our sister Lionnara. We had a younger brother named Hrothgar, but he was taken by a monster horde about ten years ago, may the Gods have him. Uther was the first to start as a Knight in Carelia, but since then have departed on a self-enlightenment journey, and we haven't heard about him for a while. I started soon after, but my desire was to see new places, and to bring glory and wealth to our family. That was how I came to Beluaterra. Right upon my arrival, I joined the realm of Midas Chia, which is no more. My thoughts were to join a small realm, where I could participate more, but I was unfortunate as MC was about to be overridden by Luz de Bia. I tried to help, but as an inexperienced newcomer, there was nothing I could do, and then I decided to leave. I had heard praises about Avalon, and thus was enticed to established myself here. By that time I also realized the pen and paper were more attractive to me than the sword, and started a new career as a bureaucrat. Since then, I have been serving Avalon faithfully. My first major participation was as Baron of Pel Mark where I started the Monster Zoo with the help of my friend Lucius, may the Gods have him. Then I served twice as temporary judge on Jelpot's absence, and finally as Baron of Lacint. And now, Minister of Finances, for which I am very glad and thankful. T: And why did you decide to candidate yourself to the banker position? Was it because there was good competition with Jelpot as a judge, and thus being a banker was a more open chance in the Avalonian government? B: Hah, you have a direct way to put things, Lord Thorson. But I like it, and so I'll be straight too. Yes, I tried to fulfill the judge's position, because I felt it was the position I was more prepared to step in. And actually, your success at the general elections, being a newcomer by the time, motivated me to try. However, Jelpot is a legendary member of this realm, and really good at his job, so it was a very far shot. Since then, I had been desiring to be more involved with the Avalon Government than I was capable as a simple Baron. Thus, when the banker position became available, I saw it as my chance to finally be able to contribute to the realm development and growth on a longer term. T: Well, apparently, Avalon had his share of innovation, but didn't quite appreciate it, since lord Hector recently surpassed me for General elections, on the premise of his experience and seniority on Avalon. B: True, but then you must see that the General position is the most dynamic of all government positions, and also the one that is directly put to test more often. Even if I do bad as a banker, people will take longer to notice, if they do at all. But it's hard to ignore the bodies of fallen comrades in the battlefield. As the difference was very close, I see your loss more as a side effect of this war backlash than actual lack of faith of Avalon on your capabilities. T: Thanks, Lord Bulwyf, I appreciate your support. But back to the main subject of this interview, what are your plans and expectations as the Minister of Finances of Avalon? B: Avalon has been growing fast in the recent times, and I believe that in order to keep it that way, we need to put more effort on organization, at all levels. You and Grim-Reaper had already pointed that in the past, and started working towards it with the Avalon Makeover project and the organization of the North and South Armies, and the Mounted Death. However, the sudden retirement of Grim and the complete turn of events that followed took the attention out of these matters, and for good reason. I believe that now is the time to start focusing on it again. My short term objectives will be to review the current taxing and trading situation in Avalon, in order to guarantee enough income to all nobles and enough food to all regions, especially our large cities. In a longer term, I would like to review the inventory of all Avalon infrastructure, and then work towards improving the areas in more need, by guaranteeing a good distribution of recruitment centers and paraphernalia throughout the realm, so we have both high quality, good supply and easy access. Also, we should not forget that a monster or undead invasion could happen at anytime, as it had so many times in the past, and we must be ready for it. T: Lord Bulwyf, it was very kind of you to concede this interview to the Voice of Avalon, and and I thank you for that, in the name of our readers. I would also like to wish you success in the new position, and may you help Avalon attain glory and wealth. B: Thank you very much, Lord Thorson, for the chance to communicate with the realm. May our swords be always sharp, and our hearts always passionate. And glory to Avalon!
====Yeah we rule...==== February 12, 1007 by Scarlet The largest army that modern beluatara has ever seen just left the stronghold of Zod. Last readings showed a force of more then 40 000 cs camped arround the mountain. Army camps as far as the eye can see. Fields of wagons and huge siege engines stand proud and strong. In my years as a soldier I have never witnessed an army of this scale. The force comprises mainly of Avalonien and Fronen troops. Reinforced by the OG regulars and the Thalmarkin reserves. I must say, and I'm proud to do so, that the Avalonien military has the largest unit on the field! A 145 inf unit under command of Lord Galvin Duke of Cteduul. While its still to early to indicate where we are heading,we know that the "victim" will have a hard time ahead! ====Wudinken is expanding==== February 6, 1007 by Scarlet Under the guidance of her Duchess, also known as the best looking duchess across the continent, the infrastructure in wudinken has been growing! We are proud to present the new production facility for heavy siege equipment. Wudinken now produces long range trebuchets, iron reinforced Rams, Siege towers and variety of garden gnomes. Beside the workshop Wudinken also owns a banner facility from now on. The Banners are made from the best fabric imported from OG and processed with care. With these expansions we will rule the world! ====Council reconfirmed==== February 1, 1007 by Thorson With the results for today's elections, the council has been granted permission to stay on their track to make Avalon a great nation. Even in this time of peace I have been given the authority to manage the military side of the realm. As Avalon is a democracy I still answer to my Chancellor Allarion. Luckily we have a very good council, which tries to support our Ruler in every way possible. |
