As a chemistry student I am in a good position to tell you that germanium is an unsuitable substance on which to build life. This is due to its ability to only catenate 5 times, IE: form a chain of 5. Silicon can do this around 12 times and so would also be unsuitable. Carbon is the only non-metallic substance which can catenate indefinately. (And don't think of making life out of metals) As a Biology student I can tell you that the reason for aging is in the DNA so use DNA as an excuse. If you're going to get high tech you might as well do it right. [[Lumberjack Family|Kamekaze6]] 22:11 31 May 2006 (CET)

Its half life would be such that it would cause a nuclear explosion. I would like to see the fireworks display when the physical laws of nuclear chemistry catch up with the elves. Should be quite the fireworks display. [[Lumberjack Family|Kamekaze6]] 22:11 31 May 2006 (CET)
