Spade's brother, Club, was Never their father's favorite. This was because Spade was always the more cunning of the two. Thus Spade remained at home while Club was cast out.

Spade arrived in Minas Leon shrouded in secrecy.
He knew of his cousin Lisa's plot to kill his cousin Lukanna, but becaus eof his contact with his brother Club, he also knew that Lisa had failed.
