The Black Book was first discovered by the hapless adventurer Diarmid (who claimed--without proof, of course--to be the bastard son of a distant cousin of the Aoidh Family), while exploring the sea caves on the coast Az Zarqua. There he fought a viscious two-headed salt-water troll, which presumably had found the book in a sea-chest which had drifted near its home, no doubt from some shipwrek.

This book was rediscovered by Ingel, a adventurer known only for his inability to properly fix items. While fighting an ugly alpha monster in his home territory of Orde, he discovered the book in back of the cave the battle took place in.
