(March 2009).

When Anne finally escaped, she was exhausted. Her clothing and long dark brown hair was a mess but she was relieved to be heading home.

On the her way to the northern part of the empire, last week, to combat the Monster and Undead epidemic, Anne found herself ambushed by a pack of Monsters in Avrende. At first, it looked as though she and her archers might be able to hold the creatures off with their magnificent storm of arrows. Without infantry or militia support, though, they were vulnerable. When the creatures charged, her men were cut to shreds. Her archers fought courageously, but their equipment was no match for close combat and more than twenty of her good men were killed instantly.

In the midst of the battle, Anne was suddenly pulled off her horse and knocked out cold. When she awoke, she deliriously found herself being dragged away from the battlefield on the ground by a group of Monsters. They had placed a dark, smelly, disgusting sack over her head and she could see nothing.

Haven't you the decency to atleast let me walk? Anne asked the monsters, but they only grunted back.

The monsters dragged her along for what seemed like days before they finally stopped. They had arrived at the monster's hideout. After the sack was yanked off her head, Anne was pushed into a crude prison. When the creatures offered to prepare her some meat for dinner, Anne accepted readily. Just as she was about to take a bite, the monsters sneared at her in their raspy voices and mockingly told her that they had prepaired her a delicacy - human flesh. Suddenly feeling nauseous, Anne struggled to keep from vomitting and recoiled into the corner. She was kept prisoner for days before a chance afforded her the means to escape. Anne took it readily, slaying several monsters in the process, and felt no remorse.

As she walked back through the forest to find the battlefield and what remained of her unit, Anne dreamed of delicious hot food and a long hot bath. But she gently steered her mind away from that and reminded herself that their would be much work ahead to do.
