The following is a brief draft for crest to be used in the proposed new colony. These crest are only intended for use within the new colony, and are not intended to replace Family crest that players may have already developed.
Style 1
Knightly Crest
The Knightly crest are designed to be the simplest in the realm. They should consist of no division and basic pattern colour combination as show below. A knight who has done the realm or duchy an extraordinary duty may be awarded a symbol or creature to be added to their crest
Lordly Crest
A Lord adds a division, either Pale or Per Fess division to their crest. As displayed below the right hand of the crest will be the Lords previous knightly crest. The left hand side contains the regions design. At this stage it has not been determined wether the regions design is static and is applied to each new lord, or if it should be redesigned upon appointment of a new lord. There are other division styles that break the crest into two sections that could be used if we needed more varity.
Ducal Crest
Continuing the trend A Duke adds another segment to his/her crest via a division. The new segment contains the Duchies design. It is also probable that the new Duke will be changing his/her region design as well, as they should now control the Ducal seat as a region. I have left the previous region design in the example for clarity.
The Duchy design should have at least one creature or symbol for the design. Unlike the the Lords crest the position of the different designs are not fixed, though I would assume that a new Duke would simply add their knightly design in the same position as their predecessor.
Ruler Crest
The Rulers Crest expands on the Ducal Crest by adding the realms design to a new segment. This design should be a simplification of the realms coat of arms and icon used in game. Similar to the Ducal crest the new Ruler will probably just be updating the crest to contain their knightly design if we do end up enforcing the idea that the Ruler must be the Duke of the capital.
Style 2
Knight
Same as style 1, simple coat of arms for knights
This example shows a simple added to a knight that has performed extraordinary duties
Lord/Duke/Ruler
Ranks are indicated by assorted crowns. The following example if for the Ruler, other ranks use less ornate crowns
Other Ideas
Battle Honours
The idea is to award battle honours to participates of important battles. The example just uses some symbols I had laying around, but we could use anything, the important thing would be that the award for each battle was unique. The following example also reserves an area for the battle honours, but again this isn't necessary, as long as the battle honours are somehow distinct from other symbols that make up the coat of arms. This page has some good ideas for battle honours. Kingdom of Alluran Medals and Ribbons
Founders of Asylon
The idea was to simply add a symbol, or pattern to the coat of arms for those of us that found the colony.
