Greetings, readers of the Leon's Roar!
We have all seen the reports. After weeks of waiting, while baited breath coalesced into smoky clouds and frost clung to our armor, word has come down from the Northern Coasts that a gargantuan glacier inexorably crawls towards our lands. As the former Lord of Upper Tell, this news has troubled me greatly- the land I once called my own, the town I helped build, all of it lay abandoned under the valiant evacuation overseen by Baron Spade Seraphen. To say nothing else of those in Yule, or the cities of Makar and Icegate, or the realms of Rieleston and Darka, who share in Minas Leon's fate. Lyonesse? Well, I have heard that there are a fair number of good nobles in Lyonesse, but I have no doubt they are well versed in dealing with the icy bite of Mother Nature after spending so long dealing with the Icy Bite of Mother Himoura.
So what are we to make of these tales? Some, such as the Silnarian priest Alejandro Hurlant, have turned to religion. Northern peasants, I have heard, have turned back to the Way of the Hammer, believing that the civilizing influence of the Way of the Warrior Saints has brought this catastrophe upon them. Sir Alejandro has taken to spelling doomsday and gloomy messages of repentance -in typical Silnarian fashion, the solution is to submit one's self as quickly as possible. What does the Roar say?
What it has always said: To Roar. To bellow out the call to others - the Realms of the North have seen their northern estates destroyed. The people of the North have been uprooted called to action. That now is not the time to bemoan one's fate, that it is not the time for resignation and disgruntled contentment with one's lot. Now is the time to let loose a mighty roar and to seize this event for the opportunity to spread civilization and benevolent rule that it is. So let us roar.

After months of stability, a massive shake up occurred in the hierarchy of Minas Leon, clearly establishing our realm as one of the best realms to belong to when it comes to quick advancement. No less than SIX nobles were granted new lands in the past month. Charles Elegant, former Baron of Upper Tell, was placed in charge of Crahandan early in the month, though lingering wounds from his old injury forced him to step down again, allowing Lothair Mastersson to take his place. Senel Coolidge was appointed Viscount of Mansbridge, and the Royal Treasurer, Targon Valerian, was awarded the Earldom of Rotherthorpe for his fine service. Meanwhile, I have transferred my own estates to our Southern borders in Lyton, with my good friend Sir Spade being appointed as Baron of Upper Tell.

Queen Nadina Vasata ascended the throne of Darka earlier this month, and comments given to The Leon's Roar have suggested that her advancement may signal a change in the long war with the Cagilan Empire. When asked to comment about whether the Cagilan Empire thought Queen Nadina's ascension could bring about peace, Prime Minister Susan Maxwell responded that "The new Queen is her own person and does not have to follow the path of her father. The path between Darka and the Cagilian Empire will be determined partly by her actions and choices. Peace is never impossible, but it would require negotiation." The Leon's Roar will continue to follow this story and provide you with its developments.

Atamara has been rocked by news of large hordes and strange omens. For posterity's sake, we have recorded some of the reports in a [[/IceAgeReports|second page]].
For those wishing only of a summary, it appears that a cold wind has brought reports of beasts and monsters to the Northern coast of Atamara, driving those who wish to survive further South. If reports of the deathly cold are accurate, Minas Leon may look to lose over half its entire size. Although this news is, perhaps, bad on first glace, it should be noted that this also means we will have plenty of experienced nobles ready to govern the lands we take from the uncivilized horde of Silnaria, who struck against us while we worked to defend humanity.

It was with surprise that members of the Way of the Warrior Saints greeted news from one Sir Alejandro Hurlant, a Silnarian who aspired to join the priesthood. Sir Hurlant had declared Silnaria "holy unto the Saints of Old," and that "the lands of this land [Silnaria] are blessed." After this heretical pronouncement, Sir Hurlant proceeded to recreate an Order devoted to spreading its blasphemy and raised the "Owl King" Drizztle Sharpspeare to be the first of its members. Reasonably irked by the insinuation that their rightful liberation of Silnarian lands was an attack upon a "holy" nation, the nobles of Minas Leon protested these pronouncements with much success, leading Sir Hurlant to recant his more extreme apostasies. Sir Alejandro was appointed to the priesthood as a reward for encouraging the growth of the Warrior Saints in Silnaria, and rumor has it that Minas Leon has begun scholarship to recover their own unique and intimate connections with the Faith.
