Battle of Celtiberia.jpg

The calm wind of Celtiberia did little to soothe the worry that gnawed at Cedric Highvale's face. He, Cedric of House Highvale, leader of the Emerald Blades, stood once more against the monstrous horde that plagued the land. This was their second clash, a brutal confrontation of steel and blood against creatures born of nightmare. Beside him, his men, the Emerald Blades, formed a shield wall, their emerald green banners lightly fluttering in the wind like defiant flames. The air hummed with the tension of impending battle, the silence broken only by the creak of leather and the hushed prayers to forgotten gods.

Across the field, the monstrous horde seethed, a grotesque tapestry of claws, fangs, and rotting flesh. They were few in number, only seventeen, but each possessed massive strength, their forms bulging with unnatural muscle. A tide of darkness threatening to engulf the land. Yet, Cedric and his men stood unbowed, as the first rays of dawn painted the sky, casting an ethereal glow upon their determined faces, a beacon of defiance against the lingering night.

The first volley of arrows from their allies, a storm of fletched death, a tempest of steel that rained down upon the foe, tore through the ranks of the monsters. The Emerald Blades surged forward, their shields locked, their swords thirsting for blood. Cedric led the charge, his well-crafted steel sword, gleaming in the pale sunlight. The clash was brutal, a whirlwind of steel and fury. Cedric fought like a man possessed, his every strike a testament to his lineage, his every parry a testament to his skill. He and his men felled beast after beast, their blades collecting their payments of flesh. Yet, for every monster that fell, two more seemed to take its place. The Emerald Blades, though valiant, were slowly being overpowered. Cedric, his armor stained with the vile ichor of his foes, rallied his men, his voice booming over the din of battle.

"Hold the line!" he roared, "For D'Hara! For the realm!"

Inspired by their leader's courage, the Emerald Blades fought with renewed vigor. They held their ground, a wall of emerald against the tide of darkness. The battle raged, a bloody stalemate, until the final monstrous creature fell, its lifeblood staining the Celtiberian soil. Cedric stood amidst the carnage, his breath coming in ragged gasps. The Emerald Blades had triumphed, but at a cost. Many of his company lay dead or wounded, their sacrifice a testament to their valor.

As the sun rose over the blood-soaked field, Cedric looked upon his fallen comrades, a pang of grief piercing his heart. He had led them to victory, but the taste of it was bitter, tinged with the sorrow of loss. He knew that their struggle was far from over. The monstrous horde would return, their numbers replenished, their hunger for destruction unabated. Yet, Cedric Highvale, leader of the Emerald Blades, would be ready, his spirit unbroken, his sword ever vigilant.
