With the Siege of Bescanon, Imperatrix Alyssa Kingsley of Perdan siezed the strategically critical region of Bescanon in the aftermath of a failed Northern assault on the South. Led by the Blood King Gray Von Carstein and Marshal Guldor D'Espana of Eponllyn, the Northern Alliance forces ardently defended their foothold into the South, as its loss would lengthen the time required for Northern forces to mount assaults on Perdan and Vix Tiramora. After a night and a day of vicious fighting, the Eponlli host was driven from the motte and bailey established in Bescanon, and their local militia was scattered into the countryside.
Battle
The Siege of Bescanon of 01-1020 took place over the course of two days, with an a siege initiated by Imperatrix Alyssa Kingsley leading the Golden Lions and Blackmane Paladins into battle against the Blood Host of Eponllyn.
Perdanese forces initiated their initial assault in the night, using the cover of darkness to attempt to take the walls with fewer casualties from archers, but were repulsed by Eponlli infantry. A majority of Perdanese knights departed for reinforcements to enable a second assault, while the headquarters of the Golden Lions remained in Bescanon to safeguard wounded soldiers and keep a foothold in Bescanon.
Reinforcements from Sirion arrived to assist the defenders in the form of the Hawke Guards led by Sir Alistair and Sir Albrect's Storm Brigade, but their numbers were not enough. Perdan returned with refreshed troops, and drove Eponlli nobles from the motte and bailey of their fort after a pitched battle, detailed by Marshal Nemean JeVondair Renodin of the Blackmane Paladins.
Aftermath
Despite urging from various members of the Military Council and the realm as a whole, Imperatrix Alyssa refused to order the army into Eponllyn to follow up the victory, instead focusing on the takeover of the region to secure the gateway into Perdan against future attack.
Perdan controlled the region despite sporadic attempts by Eponlli forces to seize control, and most of the militia units that had not disbanded and fled to safety in Eponllyn were captured and imprisoned. With the gateway to Perdan under control, the Northern Alliance was forced to take a longer route through Shadowdale and Caligus to strike at Perdanese lands.
