Though extremely rare, it's possible for nobles to discover a unique item (likely one that was previously discovered then lost):

One of your men returns with something special. It appears one of the peasants here found a unique item, and ignorant as peasants are, kept it in his home. You find the Doomed Tome, a Book (+3 prestige).
