Taxman

Dolmbar. The paradise of forests in Sirion. The home of the blessed children of Elune. What would be more vulgar than a fat man walking and humming, always accompanied of a scribe and two guards!? A sack full of gold. A happy day.

The fat man was crossing the principal village in Dolmbar. The children were running and playing. A beautiful day. But the fat man was arriving with the scribe and the guards. And he was singing happily.

Let me tell you

How it will be.

There's one for you,

Nineteen for me,

'Cause I'm the taxman.

I'm the taxman!

Should five percent

Appear too small,

Be thankful I don't

Take it all.

'Cause I'm the taxman.

I'm the taxman!

If you get too cold,

I'll tax the heat.

If you take a walk,

I'll tax your feet.

Don't ask me what I want it for,

If you don't want to pay some more.

'Cause I'm the taxman.

I'm the taxman!

And my advice to

Those who die.

Declare the coins

On your eyes.

'Cause I'm the taxman.

I'm the taxman,

And you're working for no one but me!!!

In the central well where the families will catch water and close to the office, a messenger with a spear and the heraldry of Serpentis dictated all the important messages that Lord Erik sent to the people. Mainly messages that he edited and distributed for his own interests, showing to the people as he was strong and some small thieves were just miserable without honor. On those days Lord Erik was receiving some people in one of the offices close to the central square where the judgments happened. There the Lord executed the justice in Dolmbar. But that was the fat collector's day. Day of the Taxman.

Nobody likes to pay taxes, but the guards were accompanying the fat man with swords. A man of big belly and easy smile. Teeth of gold and silver bracelets. Collecting coins of gold. Collecting the men's work. Part of their life. Gold to the Lord. Gold for Knights and soldiers. Gold for protection. So that the life stay beautiful in Dolmbar.

A radiant day like a gold.
