Valachi feels like family to me. Nicolas Chenier

The colors of Netherworld

Netherworld lingered, dormant in the northern wastelands of Sint for long when the third invasion was beaten back. However, they in the weeks of middle May 1010, they resumed their expansion, consolidating their border with Sint. The realm of Netherworld consists of mostly Blood Cultists, who have taken control of the administration. Valachi Stefanovic was their "God" for a few months, before being succeeded by Vistuvis Adriddae, who lead for a long time. He was succeeded by daimon Prudent, then Sherilyyn Delsantos. The capital of Netherworld is Jobo's Mouth.

The Daimons flew a huge army of 700 Daimons (60 k cs) into Heen city on May 30, and shortly took it over. They then proceeded to sack Reeds, pillaging it to the ground. They began a takeover there, dropping a few of their units as militia. A daimon troop leader, Palla, was left behind in Reeds to command the militia and continue the take-over (with 34 k cs), and the remaining 10 daimon leaders commanding 610 daimons (55 k cs) left for Watto. Meanwhile, two monster troops lead by Wisdom and Justice (3200 monsters, 30 k cs) moved to Naraka. 3680 monster lead by Power moved to Bajit. Daimons in Reed were assaulted by monster army, however, they successfully defended Reeds, multiple times, although losing their leader, Marshal Cimmerian. Reeds then defected to Hetland, before finally being taken oven by the daimons. After taking it over, the continued their march toward Mesh, destroying the realm.

Meanwhile, Riombaran police troops arrested the daimon ambassador, Valachi, throwing him into prison. Valachi was swiftly interrogated, and was scheduled to be executed, before he managed to escape, some say on the back of a daimon. Interrogation reports can be found here.

Daimon forces took over all the cities of Heen and Mesh, destroying all that stood in their way. Later, it was reported that Jobo's Mouth was uninhabitable for humans, and presumed to have erupted. Daimons then began moving South, towards Enweilian territory, taking on and defeating Monsters in Fengen. Daimons then dissapeared for a month, before returning and marching on Hetland.

Towards the end of July, a tome called the Book of Daimon Banishing has been found. It is part of a three book trilogy. The hunt is on for the other two books. Later, a scrolls of daimon banishing were found.

Artists impression of a daimon.

The realms of Sint,Enweil, Bara'Khur and Avalon allied themselves with the daimons.

Event
Fire is the purest of all things. It cleanses the land. It burns away the corruption of rot. It destroys the poisonous infestations. Nothing can withstand the purifying blaze of the fire. Where it has passed, only truth and purity remains.

For many long years we were content to allow the humans to languish in their complacency. There was no reason to send our warriors to the lands of men. No reason to unleash the purifying flames. Until the escaped slaves returned to the lands of man. The twin plagues of the monsters and the undead. They had once, long ago, escaped their subjugation, and turned on their masters. We thought they had since been destroyed. But the infection was rooted too deep. Pockets of their corruption must have survived, to emerge once again into the light of day.

Once they re-emerged, they spread like a virulent disease across the lands. They ravage the host in their passing, converting its body to supplement their own strength. In the end they will consume all, leaving nothing but their own kind. This cannot be allowed to happen.

Thus it was that our warriors were sent forth with their flames. They emerged from the heart of fire among the lands of men. They sought out the infections, to cauterize the wounds. But the humans, in their folly, refused to see the truth. They could not comprehend the purity of the flames. The humans resisted the purification. Some, in a tragic fit of self-destructiveness, even allied with the disease. This cannot be permitted.

Thus did we send our avatars to the lands of men. Thus did we spur on our forces to engage the disease in glorious battle. For only through the test of battle is the victor strengthened. Only through the purification of the flames is the corruption burned away. And the flames feed on that which they consume.

They stir once more! But not all is lost... no, she shall face her ancient foe... I will see to that.

Our archives... extensive. THE RITUAL! It is not lost! As the mountains breed chaos, the earth itself will rise up in order... IT IS NOT LOST I TELL YOU! And so near... so nearly complete...

The dragons stir in truth for the first time since the gods walked our plane. Before them comes fire and death and destruction, and in their wake all hope is lost... but He stands from his throne watching all of chaos for the first time, to oppose...

There is much death to come.

My Lords,

I have arrived in **** and I am safely in my estate and have a moment to put quill to paper. I do not know what to make of my trip to the diamon lands. My first trip was an invitation and when I arrived I was tortured for three days. I returned with revenge in my heart but two things happened that made me desire nothing more then to leave.

The first is that I was asked to provide my services to the diamons. When I pressed them for information I was given no details of what my service would be and so I fled, fearing for my life. I initially headed south-east as if I was going to return to our lands through Fianik but turned south-west in the night and made my way towards the bad lands of Binoaramet. It was there that I came across a cave and met the diamon Seer who bid me pass along the warning, which I have done.

I do not know the meaning of the Seer's warning nor the cause for it but it troubles me. Few things are able to make me fear and I was scared.

In the lands of Jobo's Mouth I sought my prey. Instead I came across something I didn't not expect. A cave which beckoned to me with a murmur and a sigh. Inside I was met by diamon Seer who bid me pass long a warning. I have scribed her words in my own hand as to keep this information from anyone save this council.

"Curse it is, not a burden. Born with the curse, I must live with. Tarry here, but not for long. I see brothers coming and in anger do not speak to me.

Warning I give: Great evil comes. Daimons can save, protect. Evil from other de... worlds. Warning give must to humans. Help race of ours defeat. Taint the world comes."

And with that the creature lapsed into silence and after a few minutes, without looking, she waved me away, indicating that she would say nothing more. I do not know what to make of this but I will leave it to each of you to discuss this for a few days and by then I should be home and we can discuss plans.

Just recieved this. Avalon will not going with them of course. But I would like to know what you all think.

Letter from Vistuvis Adriddae (1 hour ago) What say you, Lady Jord Jorvik?

We have very little quarrel against you. The Netherworld needs friends, for there is a great Evil amidst us that needs to be defeated. A terrible force that is spawning. If you agree to aid us, we will help you in whatever way we can.

Lord Chancellor of Mesh,

You have provoked us for the last time. Your insults, as well as your infiltrators have been aimed against the Netherworld without provocation. We have done nothing to deserve these things from you. My first request to your previous ruler to hand over an infiltrator had been met with an insulting rebuke. If we do nothing, you will constantly antagonize and cause pain to us. Our armies will bring the fight to your lands, since you have sat there and smirked as our nobles are cut when their back is turned. Our blades will cross with yours. Let it be known that you have caused much misery as several lords have been assassinated without cause. It will be returned fourfold to your lords.

This is your last chance. The Netherworld forces are ready. Chancellor of Mesh, you must make amends for your unwanted attacks.

Sincerely,
Vistuvis Adriddae (God of Netherworld)

I too received this disturbing news...

Do we have a record or some list that details these past Daimon portals and their locations?

We just had a whole host of 60K CS Daimons land on our heads in Heen City without warning and seemingly out of thin air and well, attacked:

Scribe Note Scout Report (Heen)

I reckon there were no reports of their travel through northern regions before they arrived (otherwise we would have been alerted). We have not said anything to them that would provoke this. So they must have eyes and ears somewhere among us. Quite unexpected and shocking to say the least. There's not much more we can do but rally in the citadel of Tahgalez for safety and hope allies and comrades-in-arms can band together with us.

Humanity's hope for strength will be in unity and spirit.

Honored friends of the South Western Alliance,

Sint has made a decision regarding it's future and the events to come. Please let it be known that out of courtesy we present this information to our old allies first, some of you already know and I thank you for keeping initial negotiations confidential. Further, Sint never passed on information that was discussed in these halls.

Sint and it's members have agreed on an alliance with Netherworld forces. We believe that we humans have no chance in facing what is to become of this world without support of either of the three parties, it was Sint's old relations with the daimons that worked towards our decision, and I represent the will of my people. We have all tried finding the reasons behind the outlandish forces and their attack upon our people, but we all lack concrete evidence, one can only look at the most recent developments. I fail to see why the daimons are to be viewed as the sole evil that came to the Beluaterran continent, yes they have caused much hardship in the past, even in Sint, yes they were the sole survivors of the third invasion. But judging from their past relations they were forthright with their actions, more than any other outlander.

Two of their lords were assaulted, and instead of reasonable satisfaction anyone of us here would have demanded, they were mocked, by the second most powerful nation. That nation hearing of the resentment that was brewing within the Netherworld, tried cutting a deal with us fellows of the SWA. One that I declined as it would have meant the sole burden of war to be fought on our territory. A defensive pact against the Netherworld which I anticipated to fail without outlandish help given the sheer number of daimons present and the lack of time to prepare. Unfortunately for Heen their honor forebode them to wait and watch further development and they were caught red handed. It was no one of Sint that passed this information, but I was not surprised to see it end up in the hands of the Netherworld. Now they fight, for the same reasons they marched for, in the lands of a different people, a people held most dearest by the Sintian people.

In the south we have a different development, a race of Monsters that call themselves the Gilgamesh have appeared. It was their will to establish a presence and the cunning diplomacy of Enweil that sent them south, destroying all that laid in their path, the Dominion of Alluran is reduced to a mere speck of what it was. They were soothed by the silver tongue of the Enweil snake, and they march without regret. It now seems they have found new friends, in our very midst, failing to serve what they seem to have offered. I believe that the very same nation mocking the Netherworld and bringing all this destruction to the SWA, is the same nation that called the monsters and is now dictating their will onto the rest of us SWA members. We are being fooled if we believe the monsters are the better alternative, we have no clue who actually is, but we let the pressure of our fellows demise our free choice. I call it shameful to have crumbled the great relations we once shared without so much as an explanation. Yes I can understand why the daimons are viewed with so much fear and anguish, I do not understand why we could not review this completely new set of circumstances before letting one nation decide for the rest of us.

Sint has agreed to an alliance with the Netherworld under following conditions: - All nations of the SWA are offered equal or better terms of alliance (with better I mean a defensive pact against monsters and undead) with the Netherworld except Mesh (it was the daimons who just would not agree to that). - In return, should war continue, Sint will follow through with their alliance except against Heen and Old Grehk.

It is a bold choice made by my people and we are well aware that it will cause dire consequences, we have made it nonetheless. With our step, we have cleared the past of the SWA and given each of it's members a new chance to make their own choice, I ask all of you to think hard on how to react. Talk it through with your council or all of your people, think of the consequences, the pro's and con's.

As a show of courtesy to our old friends, I will demote my entire staff within the South Western Alliance to aspirant rank, including me. We do not wish to render it useless, even if that means it will be used against us.

Friends, the time of choice has come.

I wish all of you good luck in your future,
Benton Aelradir (Ruler of The Western Alliance and Pontifex of Sint)

-- Gazing over the ruined City of Reeds --

This place was quite a pricey catch. We lost a Daimon Lord somehow...an irreplaceable loss...but he was not a Servant of Prudent...a much younger Daimon with a promising future cut short.

"My Lord, there is a massive concentration of Human forces to the South of us," said a survivor from the assault in Bajit.

Well, it would seem these humans linked up as we were busy purging the rebellious spirit out of this city. Maybe too much monster blood seeped into this river and drove them mad.

"What shall you have us do, Imperi?"

"Just try to rebuild somce of these damaged walls. I don't see any stones anywhere...so just pile up some corpses...maybe they'll be enough to scare these weaklings from battle."

"It will be done, my Lord."

We should have a brief meeting to figure out what we are going to do next. We suffered well over the anticipated casualties to secure this place than expected. I am sure this changes things a bit...

"Before you go, please visit every camp of the Lords here, and tell them we must figure out what we are going to do about this city--and the thousand humans to the South."

As the battle came to an end, the sky darkened above, and terrible gusts of wind began to blow all around. A booming voice could be heard above the cries and moans of the wounded, as hundreds of Daimons circled the area from above seeking out a landing point:

"Domis dian sheint calgaron..."

This is becoming irritating...the humans we use for scouts and to send messages for us don't speak our native language...this is creating a lot of problems for coordination...especially because most of these new commanders do not speak the Human's tongue...how many more of these young Daimons will perish because they were sent here without Prudent's clearance...

"Kree...domash shent entan?"

To which loud cries responded, that could be heard coming from the Daimon camp.

Event from Argent
Message sent to Everyone in the vicinity of Mokut (55 recipients)
The Daimons, all led by Argent had left late at night, travelling without stop, sometimes flying when the river banks were too difficult to cross. It wasn't small wonder that they managed to reach Mokut without being seen. After all, travelling under the cover of darkness required the skills that Daimons had long sharpened to finess.

But perhaps Argent had taken the wrong decision. Instead of dealing a blow to the humans, he had suffered a major setback. Kree had fallen in battle, never to rise again. It wasn't long ago that Argent had vowed retribution when Kree had been wounded by the assassin. And now, so soon after Cimmerian, Kree had also left this mortal realm.

The entire western exercise had been costly. Too much damage for too little gain. The puny humans were strong. Far too strong than they themselves realised. Perhaps they did not need the Daimons to fight the monsters at all.

With a small amount of grief and large amounts of anger, Argent sent out a caravan bearing Kree body and a small contingent of guards back to Jobo's mouth.

Human,

We did not wish to fight you! It was not our aim. We only wished to protect this world, from the taint that is of the zombies, the monsters. Mesh and Heen did not wish to see so. The ruler of Mesh, he insulted us. Sent his assassins after us! Heen chose to conspire against us, just like you do so yourself.

We shall brook no trespasses. We offered an alliance to Heen even after their conspiracy but they chose to insult us further. And now they pay. So shall you if you do not return back to your realm and war with us.

He picked out the puny ones who called themselves assassin. These pests seemed to keep attacking the Daimon commanders. And now they would pay. Not just for their crimes but to provide satisfaction to Argent, to satiate the vengeance for the deaths of Kree and Cimmerian.

All the murderers would pay and the payment would be life.

Heen's banner will still fly...you just won't be able to recruit troops that undermine humanity's chances for surviving this situation.

Most of the other Daimons here do not speak English. Some of you may remember my voice, and some of you may not. Only the servants of Prudent speak your tongue fluently...so do not feel insulted if you are ignored by the others.

Farewell now. I will answer no questions, if answers are what you seek, go to Jobo's Mouth and get them from Prudent or Seer.

Another successful execution. It was getting routine for Argent. The humans try to assassinate the Daimons and then he gets the chance to provide them with retribution.

Such situations always brought up the same question in Argent's mind, "The humans have captured most of the known land, are stronger than they appear. But are they so foolish to repeat the same mistakes? To keep hitting their head on a brick wall?"

Even after the warnings were given, they chose to ignore it. Even after peace offerings were made, they chose to shun it. Argent doubted that he would ever understand the humans.

It does not matter. Do you really think you can kill us? It is beyond your means human. Look at Kree, at me. We are both alive after having been killed in battle. No, we are the Daimons, the race that can travel between worlds. A race much older than yours.

Killing Chris has no meaning except that it further ensures the eradication of your realm, of you and all that you represent. Oh I will take great pleasure in watching your realm die. And I will personally ensure that your capital is rid of every tainted human. There will be an extermination in your capital, down to the last human. This I assure you of.

We do not act randomly or out of wanton hedonism. Why do you think Bara'Khur, Sint or Melhed has not be harmed? None of their humans in my dungeons have had any harm come on them. Why I released a human from Melhed just yesterday. No the state of your realm and Heen is your own doing. You chose to attack us and that has led to your destruction. So blame others all you want, it does not matter. The truth is as I have stated.

I'm the coward...yet you're the one hiding behind yet another set of stone walls? These are quite sturdy...I am surprised we haven't been able to obliterate even the further most level yet...our fire balls must of lost some strength.

We will feed, and convert your warmth into fire in our bellies and try again.

Wherever you go, should you survive this battle, know that the parasite that flees in search of a new hole to fight from, is the coward. Not the shadow of death that looms just behind you...I represent an unescapeable fate to most living things...death to all enemies of the Empire.

So flee now while you still can, but take some wisdom with you and make yourselves useful. We need humans to help us fight off these Undead and Monster abominations. We simply lack the necessary commanders to wipe out all the human insurgents that get in the way, along with the uncoordinated armies of the Undead and Monsters. Many have raised arms with us, against these enemies of the Empire, but you know we have been here for many years observing your people...if we wanted you dead, none of you would exist. We fight to protect your weak species because that is what Prudent convinced the Elders is best for the Empire. However, another General was sent with a full list of officers to make an unbiased decision to support or refute Prudent's reports.

Get your acts together, or you will be obliterated. Argent, or any one of his servants, needs to send only one well written negative report home about your people here being a hopeless cause, and millions of Daimons will come here and scorch this land...making it uninhabitable for all non-daimonic life...

Whatever fate reaches your people will be your choice. At least plain ignorance of reality will not be an excuse you can take to God...put this message in your hearts. Embrace it when you are ready, and hopefully it isn't too late.

Every Daimon commander that dies is irreplaceable. We have already lost several officers to the poisonous effects of monster bites...soon we won't be able to mount large offensives, and will only be useful as supporting troops...but by then, it may be too late.

Gamble with your futures as you wish. I will not reply to any inquiries or questions. I preach a message at every capital city we visit. This was the one that came to mind today, for whatever reasons.

You've managed to become a legend so quickly, Argent. New to this island, and already hated by so many of the locals? That is most impressive.

City control is still firmly in the hands of the Meshians...this will give them much confidence until we remedy that. Our forces must take a rest, Joy, please have your army takeover this city...just drop fire down on everything....they'll all eventually leave...patrol the camps of our banners flying at half-mast. We will need a complete rest for the brutal journey ahead. The monsters are infecting humans at an alarming rate, and we must deal with them once this monster farm is destroyed. Too many useful humans are dying without our help because of these useless Meshians.

Don't waste anymore time on these Meshians...they don't understand what we're saying. Perhaps our knowledge of their language is not as great as we thought. Contradictions one says...what a waste of effort on our part here. We were driven to the North West? Such ignorance...and baseless arrogance.

You Meshians have been demilitarized because you foolish people opened your homes to the Monsters. All potential vessels of the disease will be wiped out, all those that do not fight with us are potential vessels. Your people have already been judged based on your actions. The Heenites were just closer to us so they fell first. We will march East as soon as all the infectable humans on the West are purged...this way we can keep the fighting on Monster territories...should we fail, the land will become a barren wasteland. I don't care for your pathetic species. But we follow orders, this is the Daimon way. Even if it is to protect your parasitic species that lies as a means of survival.

Get it through your thick skulls. The masters have no reason to lie. We gain nothing from lying. We can afford to speak only in the truth. You see one move ahead. We see your entire lives flash before our eyes. The sooner you come to that reality the better.

If Mankind truely believes we were "driven" anywhere the last time we meddled with your species...then you're in for a surprise. We have already virtually wiped out two foes we spared the lastime, in such a short period of time. We will blaze East as more humans are banding together to keep the Undead busy...they must hold strong because the limited resources the Elders have invested in your species cannot effectively be everywhere at once. The South East is in a terrible state of health...there are too many monsters...they are breeding and infecting too quickly...too many weak humans that could of linked up and been an effective force are instead seperated and being infected by the thousands..

We must finish the takeover so we can hurry on Eastwards.

These Meshians are quite warped. Pity.

We have conquered lands and places that men can only 'dream' about. You pitiful humans are confined to this soil...we came here long ago...but there were no men on these lands. Just plants. So we left. We cycle many worlds every 5,000 of your human years to see if anything has changed. If we find life, we test its level of sophistication...do you think you humans are the first we've encountered?

What a shame. Fleshy beings with no claws...no external armor...no poison...no special abilities...why have we been ordered to quarantine and save this useless race...the Elders must be testing us for some odd reason. "We're here to preserve humanity...by burning your cities! We just destroyed your home and killed your family... why don't you want to help us?"

At least one thing is making sense. These daimons are just following orders and have no idea why they're really here. They answer our questions with "Your puny minds could not possibly understand our complicated and mysterious actions," to cover up that they don't understand either. Their Elders never entrusted them with that information. I wonder if the Elders know how ineffectively these daimons are carrying out their orders to preserve humanity.

We humans have a saying: "You catch more flies with honey than vinegar." What that means is, you're more likely to get what you want by being nice. Condescendingly trying to boss around humans without providing solid justification, killing and destroying too, is not the best way to get humans to ally with you. That should be pretty obvious by now, since it has just prompted us to fight daimons instead. If daimons are supposed to preserve humanity for their Elders, why didn't the daimons show up three years ago teaching us ways to better preserve ourselves, or giving us gold and tools, or building walls for us? How about a genuine answer this time instead of "You can never comprehend our mysterious mysteries."?

Also, Mesh refused the monster treaty. We told them there was no way we'd be their lapdogs either. In fact, we killed hundreds of them in Hoelorr while the daimons were in Heen. All this talk of Mesh being ripe for monster infection is unsubstantiated nonsense. Mesh is on the side of humans.

Honey...nay, nothing trumps blind pride.

Your realm was approached. I know this because I am the Keeper of Secrets. I won't get into specifics because they do not concern us...but Mesh chose to "fight for humanity."

That would of been ok. Except that they chose to fight us, and formed an alliance with Monsters.

Simple logic would dictate that a friend of our enemy, is an enemy.

There are no second chances. You had one, blew it, now your realm will be demilitarized. Genocide was suggested for your people, but it was ruled that merely taking your capacity to recruit troops would suffice--for now. Misbehave, taunt us further, and very quickly the complete extermination of "everything Meshian" will take place.

You will have all the time in the world to ponder your theories, and conspiracies, once we've taken your ability to fight us away...

Event from Cimmerian
Message sent to To the Judges of Beluaterra (14 recipients)
There was sudden rumbling and a huge explosion could be heard near the volcano. Despite the explosion, there seemed to be no damage to the region. Within moments, the air shimmered, seemingly a floating liquid.

As the air cleared, the surrounding appeared changed to everyone in Jobo's. In fact, all the living beings in Jobo's were not in Jobo's anymore at all but had been magically teleported to Binoaramet.

No one knew why or how the event occurred. No one except perhaps Cimmerian and Seer. Soon after, any human wishing to enter Jobo's Mouth found it impossible to breathe the air. It was like the region had been connected to the true netherworld, the home of the Daimons. The air like liquid ash which filled and blocked one's lungs. The heat terrible, a place where no living being survived.

From that moment on, Jobo's Mouth became inaccessible to any human.

Message sent to Richard Wentwood
Richard,

I will keep this simple.

If you do not help defend Enweil against these monsters, and align with us immediately--I do mean within 24 hours of this message relations had best improve--we will destroy your realm before abandoning the South and salvaging the North whom seem to be uniting with each other a lot better than these Southern realms...

We won't let the monsters infect your people...we'll just burn as many of you alive as possible...to keep their population to a state of "as-is." We have seen their numbers only growing as they devour Enweilians by the hundreds...and if Enweil is to fall, the monsters won't enjoy such a buffet in Hetland.

We'd rather be able to reinforce the stronger north if you and Enweil can defensively hold the monsters during one of our rotations...but you are the master of your own fate. Forget your pride, and focus on your survival, and we MAY all come out of this together...a little beat up...but standing tall--new scars, and all.

Make the right choice.

Roleplay from Sherilynn Delsantos
Message sent to To the Rulers of Beluaterra
The last bit of the construction on the black granite building was finally completed. It had cost the lives of more than a few peasant workers, who that had been driven too hard by their daimon task masters. The last body was just now being carted away by some of the survivng worlers. Not that anyone cared. Worked to death, sacrficed, or eaten, did it really matter? They were easily replaced. Besides, they bred like rats. You had to kill some of them off every now and then, or they'd get out of hand.

Sherilynn idly reach down a hand and scratched a small daimon between it's cat-like ears. In response to her touch on the daimon, a dim golden fire pulsed under the skin of her arms, tracing it's way along the lines up toward her shoulders. Several of these little creatures had recently taken to following her around. Maybe someday, if it survived the brutal infancy these creatures went through, it would grow into a monstrous daimon soldier. Until then, it was more of a particularly feral, vicious, and overgrown cat.

"It's been too long" she thought, "since these temples stood upon this land. That will soon change."

Sherilynn's gaze traveled over the gleaming black facade of the temple. The deep blackness of the stone gave an appearance of depth. But not an empty depth. Flickers of movement seemed to dance in the corners of her eyes as she stared into the inky blackness. She'd been told by some people that they found it disturbing. To Sherilynn it was just another sign of the rightness of the temple. This is how it was supposed to be.

A wicked smile crept across Sherilynn's face. She dropped her hand back to her side and stepped forward.

"Come" she said, to no one in particular. "It is high time that the rituals are once again performed on this world."

Sherilynn walked forward into the temple, to receive the adoration of her worshippers. The daimons followed behind, in anticipation of the feast.

Today that we knew as Daimon Worship surfaces once more, brought to life by a powerful creature masking itself as a human: Sherilynn Delsantos. It must not be allowed to flourish once more.

I will likely die for what I have done this day. I believe in Man. I know that the good among you will fight, and that is all that matters. Should I die, it will be with a smile that I depart to stand at Xerotl's side.

Argent was satisfied with Cimmerian's work. One less human pest to deal with. Less taint to spread. His reports further indicated that the human who, so tainted, that monsterlings followed her was in Creasur. Hetland was completely lost to the taint. Only a major cleansing would rid the lands of their taint. Hoelorr had been saved in time. Twillen was a lost cause but it was being purged of the taint at the moment. And the only way it would be done was to purge region of human presence. The battle in Zod had been unexpected and a loss but such was war. Now the monsters were coming to engage his forces once more. The daimons had only just recovered from the loss of magic which had all been absorbed in the conversion of the Goddess. But the recovery was not complete yet. He would have to be careful. What was good was that the humans had not yet discovered their weakness. However, they were also yet to discover the weakness of the monsters and Argent only hoped that Commander Prudent would discover it soon during her experiments. If that failed, the Daimons would be forced to leave the humans to suffer the Monster taint and retreat to the Netherworld where the Monsters could not yet travel to.

As Argent read the reports, he raged. The monsters had dared to attack the Daimons? The measly Hetlanders had called for assistance from the Monsters as they themselves cowered in their capital? He swore in his Daimonic language. The monsters would pay. Oh how they would pay. And the Hetlanders. It was going to be an all out war for he was done waiting.

As you are going about your business, the temple of Daishi in Creasur bursts forth with a blinding white light, shooting straight up into the sky. Moments later, an answering light streaks down in Xinjin. This must have something to do with the Servants of Light people have been whispering about.

An entire army was obliterated in Xinjin, over 25k in strength...

We need humanity to crush Creasaur for the magics are too powerful here, and they have turned our own technology against us! The very same shields we established around our portals to allow only those of our genetic code to cross, have been twisted, and set up in Creasaur...only humans can enter/exit the city..

Tell me, then, should we just walk away so they can teleport immense waves of energy at us resulting in complete obliteration?

There is immense evil taking place in Creasaur...humanity is the only one able to destroy it.

They have corrupted our technology somehow, a feat impossible for Man alone...we must have a betrayer here...but in any case, they have used our genetic based force fields to allow only humans to enter and leave Creasaur...they have further turned our teleportation abilities into outbursts of immense energy that wipe everything out on impact. Teleporting "blanks" so to speak...all that energy has to leave...

It is something in your blood, the same thing the monsters and undead are attracted to. Something in human blood that I haven't figured out, but it is a dangerous weapon:

Strat...

These empty discharges of energy are pretty genius, I'll admit, if a human were to come up with it. Back home, such affairs are strictly forbidden because of the side effects.

Someone has merely crosswired/integrated our force field technology with that of our teleportation devices for beaming in reinforcements...never mind...to put it in simple human terms: I have soldiers here the same as this person is able to scar your lands at the cost of your blood.

Such evil. The static is jamming our own main portal, making it impossible to warn the Elders of the danger this world faces. Our fires leave ash in their wake, this, leaves craters...Demanding the life of its 'subjects' in exchange for service. Now what I can't figure out is if they are collecting the blood for some other purpose and just tricking you into thinking it fueles these bursts...or if they genuinely found a way to utilize something special in your blood I haven't been able to see back in my own lab...time will tell...but it is a wonder where they are harnassing so much power...

Letter from Sherilynn Delsantos
The gullible fools in Hetland and Sint have committed the most insane of all possible acts. It is inconceivable that they have agreed to deal with these Servants of what you have only known so far as the mythical "fourth faction".

These temples of light are not the salvation of humanity they would have you believe. The Servants have cloaked themselves in the trappings of salvation only to draw the gullible into willingly giving their own lives. In this manner the Servants need not put themselves at risk. They simply use the life energy of their willing victims to unleash horrific forces of destruction. At the same time they siphon off some of the energy to stage an attack the barriers that hold back their masters. Should he sacrifices be allowed to continue unabated, the energy they amass will eventually be sufficient to drop these last barriers. If that happens then you shall truly come to know the meaning of "hell on earth".

This is no fabrication, I swear unto you. The weakening of these barriers has also widened those gates through which we summon our own daimons. We have been able to begin bringing forth large numbers of our own daimon soldiers. The undead and monsters will also have taken advantage of this weakening of the barriers to summon large numbers of their own forces as well, and will continue to do so for so long as the temples of light continue to drain the life-energy of your world through the unwitting sacrifices.

We must work together quickly to destroy these temples of light. If they are allowed to continue to siphon off the life energy of humanity, then all of us shall be destroyed when the Servants finally bring down the final barriers.
Sherilynn Delsantos

Letter from Sherilynn Delsantos
Beware, humans! You know not what forces with which you play. With every human sacrifice you so willingly pledge, you weaken the barriers ever further. Think you that these "prophets of light" will not demand a price for their aid? You build a debt each time you wield their infernal power. You cannot postpone the repayment of this debt forever. When the barriers are gone, they will come to claim it.

Benton, you are a spineless dog. You betray not only your alliances, but your oaths and your faith. It was only a few short months ago that you got on your knees before me, acknowledged my godhood, and pledged your very soul to my service. Now when you meet the first true test of your faith, you tremble like leaf in the wind and forswear all your oaths and loyalties.

Look, all of you, and see what kind of lackeys the "servants of light" call to their service: Forsworn, faithless cowards.

Ahh... Had I only known that humans were so gullible, that they'd be willing to open their own veins for the promise of a little bit of power, and a flash of light from the sky. When the barriers finally collapse, and They finally return to these lands, I shall have to congratulate them on their brilliant ploy. By the time They arrive, all of you humans will have killed yourselves in your foolish greed.
Sherilynn Delsantos

Letter from Sherilynn Delsantos
I see that my predictions have born fruit far faster than even I expected. Already the "forces of light" have pulled back their power. Now that you have been given a taste of what they can do, they start to make excuses for why they can't keep producing it. What next? Will they begin to ask for greater, and more frequent sacrifices in order to keep the power flowing? I warn you, humans: You know not the power of that with which you play! Your meddling in these powers you cannot comprehend could very well be the doom of us all.

VonGarrett Anderbliss (Noble) has given up his life to the Power of the Light.

People are KILLING THEMSELVES to feed an energy that wipes out our genetic markers...but they could affect monsters and undead, theoretically...it all depends on how much they know, and who is pulling the strings.

Helping humans have cost us so much. We were the only realm to stand up for man, and lost many comrades against the monsters...and this is how we are repaid. So sad.

All things have unexpected consequences. All of these power surges they are beaming across your world will have some sort of effect. At any rate, all of our armies are being obliterated. Prudent and her bodyguard Keeper are both critically wounded...

Observer then looks to the West.

"Prudent arrives. We have been ordered not to sack the area where this temple exists, or is rumored to of existed, do not take over the region until she arrives. We must not soil her interest with any kind of damage."

A few humans run away to share the news, but the Daimons seem uninterested in them.

Then Observer notices a wild man, carrying a banner he had seen a few times before. His keen eye and ears manage to pick up that this man is named Leton.

"This is going to be really funny...a man on a horse, with a few horses without riders...are going to charge at the Daimon line. I have got to see this."

Observer lets his guard down to watch this fine moment.

"There he goes, running, running...wait for it, wait for it. Ohhhhh! Take a look at that!"

Observer points at Leton trying to drive a cracked lance into a Daimon, only to see it break into pieces as it hits the Daimon's neck. Very easily the lucky Daimon grabs the man and throws him 30 feet into the air, towards the swaggering Hetlander army behind him.

"This is entertainment! Look at him, he is standing back up! What a tough human!"

Leton takes out a sword and picks up a dead man's shield. But where is he going...what is that thing...Observer notices a strange creature that Leton begins to fight, poor animal, wrong place, wrong time...a renegade monster unit wandered into the wrong place.

"Oh well, if he manages to kill those rebellious monsters, he did us a favor. Maybe I'll offer him a position as my human scout...he seems reliable enough."

The last thing Observer notices is Leton stabbing a huge monster with his sword right in the head...but the poor man was dangling at least 6 feet in the air, an easy meal if the monster is still alive...

"I can't watch the rest. Too sad."

As quickly as the word was spoken, all of the Daimons begin to run along the long stretch of dirt they had dug earlier in the week and jumped off the cliffs towards the small body of water. A brave militia would remain behind to cover the vast force long enough to escape soundly towards the other coast.

Prudent was heard, or rumored to of said, "We shall be back later to finish these scoundrals. We do not advance at the expense of allied blood."
