The Assassination of Maximus Westfall
Nearing the end of the Spring of 9 YD, an enemy infiltrator named Owen ConDoin robbed and sabotaged Aquilegia during a short incursion. The climax of his operation was the successful assassination of Archbishop Maximus Westfall in the capital Flowrestown.
The first reports showed no such infiltrator and Lord Bowie assumed there was a traitor amongst the nobility. As information surfaced, High Inquisitor Pasha revealed that Low Owen was responsible for the attack and was captured in Flow after he burned down a warehouse. While in prison, instead of suffering his time or facing punishment, Owen paid the ransom and returned to Xinhai.
When the Archbishop recovered, it was clear to the Holy Minister of War that after such a long time of inaction, the war with Xinhai was not over but had instead entered a new phase.
