Ok, damn, if I knew it was gonna cause this much trouble, I wouldn't have said a damn thing.  Plus, like I stated before, this why I kept in on the BEHIND THE SCENES page.. you know, the discussion page.  Not on the paper.  Etc. Etc.  I'm sorry if I offended anyone, really.  I figured people would take it like they usually do, and just move on.  Believe it or not, English is NOT my native tongue either (I was raised speaking German).  However, granted, I have been speaking primarily English for years now (and my German is now lacking).  I understand the language barrier, I really do (well, not so much anymore... but still).  Growing up speaking English with a German accent... yeah, not fun, you're immediately a "nazi" to just about anyone you meet.  So believe me when I say I wasn't really trying to hurt YOU. I wasn't attacking you, despite how it may have appeared, and actually had no idea it wasn't your native tongue at the time... I assumed you were just being a lazy-ass like most people on the net. So, '''I am sorry'''.  Now this is officially dropped and overwith.  Now, for a possibly helpful suggestion, what browser do you use?  The almighty Firefox (free, of course) has a built in spell-checker which works wonders (when I remember to turn it on).  Not saying you're impossible to understand, and you don't have to change at all, but if you'd really like to improve, that's a good place to start.  I truly meant no real offense, I like to joke around and often let my jokes go a bit too far.  I didn't know right away that English was not your native language, and like I said, I assumed you were like 98% of the internet and just lazy, using terrible grammar and shorthand.  Truly, we all could have handled it better, not that it shifts any blame.  I admittedly hadn't looked at the user details, and when she replied to my first jab again IC, and made no mention of her language barrier, I just continued with it.  Anyway, again, I'm sorry for offense.  =/ And for the future, it's best to explain things to me slowly (I'm a bit thick-headed), then to immediately start getting in my face about it.  Just explain the problem in a calm manner to me, and I'll do my best to rectify my mistakes.  =/ I'm not really that much of a jerk (usually). She's Greek, English is not her first language, so it's not really appropriate to wise-crack about it, even if it's just aimed at the character. OOC:I want to say that such comments, suck.And i tried to stop this nonsense by answering as Lavigna but you did take it further with better schools etc.I ve met that "racism" of your so perfect english language many times in game... and i had enough of it.In my page i wrote average in english so stop bothering me about the way i speak.I speak 3 languages apart my mother tongue and the fact  the last 7 years i live in Italy and speak italian as first language leads me to make mistakes even in greek sometimes.As for my english...i usually make mistakes wich i realize myself after re-reading my messages.I don t intend to pass 4 hrs  playing, in order to check and re check my msgs. No, you can not just wave off what you said like that. You actually could have just written "I'm sorry". But you didn't, you backed it up with bull$#@&, saying it was Benny's fualt, AND THEN on top of that said "people have spell check". Look dude, THATS AWFUL. That is not only awful, but its also belittling and wrong. Don't do it. In fact, why don't you just offer an apologie and then erase your highly offensive comments? You may think its funny to point out flaws in english...but the game supports flawed english. It does NOT support comments like you delivered in the name of "Benny's asshole-ism". You do not have to know english at ALL to play BM...but you MUST know basic decorum. Bad form my friend, bad form...I suggest you erase it and send a personal letter saying you are sorry. I'm shocked you havn't been reported. Lastly, Evi (Lavigna) is a wonderful writer. She offers the game alot of depth and takes the time to really build and play her Nobles to the hilt. :::::::OOC: I'm sorry I do not see any time my Vatticus or my Dafayo (cus they are the jerks) said anything that could insult somone out of game. Also, you will find Evi don't really mispell things. Its more of a syntax error that is common in people who type or speak another langue that is not thier first tongue. And its not even the mistake in doing it that pisses me off...its the blowing it off and then again dumping the mistake into the lap of Evi by saying there are "spell checkers". Now if you think I have ever took a low blow at a player through in-game words, please tell me when that happend, but do so somewhere where that is relevant...not three inches under the insult that I am speaking against. It was an honest mistake to offend Evi with what was said. Thats fine...but to then not say "sorry" and back it up with "well this is the reason I don't have to be sorry" and then add "heres another reason why shes at fualt for her spelling errors", is just wrong. Look, I don't want to start a damn battle over it. Fact remains, a player, who speaks 4 tongues and is quite bright, was offended and the offender did nothing to fix that. This has nothing to do with Vatt offending people with his violence (said sorry every time and toned it down epically)  or people who are offended over me saying I know damn well the limits of game rules and in-game freedoms. This has to do with Evi plainly saying she was offended...and rightfully so...and then having it brushed off. You figure it out. I already have. bad form. -Brian.

Let's drop this conversation here.I am not going to apologize for the way i speak or type and obvioulsy noone is in the mood of apologizing generally.I couldn't care less at this point of what you think about the way i speak or type.I play just fine so far and enjoying my game.What you must understand is,that it's totally humiliating accusing people for not speaking perfectly another language and insisting on pointing out ways they can use to improve their typing...only because YOU are so keen to read it with mistakes and because it bothers you to see your mother tongue not spoken or written properly.When i meet foreign people that try to speak and learn greek i only smile and congratulate them.It should be a hell of an honour for you that so many people in this world speak your language and respect the fact it's not their mother tongue.- Evi

Hiring

Query as to hiring other staff. Wouldn't hiring foreign (ie. non-RedSpan) journalists take this paper from classification of RedSpan press? Also, unless another writer's name is Benny, this wouldn't really be all told by Benny! Not critiquing, just thought this warranted some comment. --Jezralhm 10:17, 17 February 2007 (CET)

Yes, and yes. This paper would effectively end, and a new "international" one, with a better name mind you, started up. This started out as a minor project, and has been moderately succesful, so it's on to newer and better things. - Fade

Agree with Tony up there. And how about we associate ourselves with the international group, the Atamaran Writers Association (ie. reporters become a member of the guild - OOC: so we can IG/RP talk without reverting to wiki). The Atamara Times is old, and it's not very flashy, plus it's someone else's work. I think we should let some of the current newspaper editors design a new paper. The idea that the Atamaran Writers Association be used as an organization tool would be a good idea except for the fact that the guild houses are positioned up way up north in Darka. The only reason I got to be a member was because I was a trader and I made a conscious effort to go up to Azzal and join.--Rojo 04:43, 19 February 2007 (CET)

Sadly AWA is indeed a bit limited to Darka, though there is a guildhouse in Meneriel too. The guild is pretty much dead as it is -- mostly because I don't have the time/interest to keep it going anymore -- and I've been looking for someone to take control of most of the day-to-day things(collecting writings etc.). Theres a guild in Meldeen thats like the AWA, its called the Atamaran Storytellers. If you guys had a thougth about this idea a couple of weeks ago, then you could have all joined the guild :D
