The Atamaran Advocate is a soon to be founded international newspaper in Atamara and is the brainchild of Benny Kimura. There is a concerted effort to get at least one representative from every realm in Atamara to take part in this project.

Template Talk

Started designing for the paper, need consensus as to what colour scheme we should emplace. Template:Atamaran_Advocate_Main and Template:Atamaran_Advocate_Header. It's just black and white for now. No columns for the writing, maybe need to reduce the size of entry to reflect shorter entries. --Jezralhm 10:30, 25 February 2007 (CET)

As an island-wide paper I think that a more neutral color scheme would be better. I don't have any objections to black and white, but I'm also not the one with the skills to design the layout. Elenar 07:22, 26 February 2007 (CET)
I like the templates and the colour scheme but I just wondered. What's the extra space to the right of the Main Template for? --Revan 23:27, 26 February 2007 (CET)
That space is for our egos. --Fade 12:28, 27 February 2007 (EST)
Note, it can also be easily changed. I'm just playing around, the width is just 90%. I was worrying - if a full 100% would be too much space to fulfill in some high resolution browsers. --Jezralhm 09:36, 27 February 2007 (CET)
I think the 90% is fine. Once we 100% agree on a format, I'll set us off with a big bang of an article, and we'll go from there. --Fade 18:04, 28 February 2007 (CET)
I think 100% would be better as it would be worse to waste space on low resolution browsers. --Revan 18:30, 28 February 2007 (CET)
Adjusted as such. Of course, all wiki-pages are meant to be edited with great viciousness. So if you have any understanding, go for it! By the way, vague reference to Carrie-Anne Moss in the fake article. Not because I hate her, just because I didn't like her portrayal of heroine, Trinity. --Jezralhm 10:03, 1 March 2007 (CET)

Newspaper Editions

I was just wondering how we would eventually edition this newspaper? There are surely going to be too many of us to make monthly editions as is currently the norm on the wiki (far too much to read through I'm thinking.) Perhaps we should decide on making fortnightly or even weekly editions? --Revan 18:46, 25 February 2007 (CET)

Fortnightly seems the most viable option. Also, and while our aim is for unbiased reporting, I'm sure a weekly report/newspaper with a monthly commentary/editorial from our journalists can be hailed (OOC: encourages roleplay?). --Jezralhm 06:37, 26 February 2007 (CET)
Fortnightly sounds good and the editorial sounds really interesting. This newspaper is going to be freaking sweet :D!! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Elenar (talkcontribs) 14:28, 26 February 2007 (UTC).
Indeed, and I'm loving the layout. Good job mate. (OOC: Work's been a bit killer lately, so I had no time to sit down and pull it from scratch, so thank you SOOO much for your work so far ^__^). Yes, UNBIASED is the key word, folks. Editorials are, of course, opinionated, so you can show a little bias in those, but for the actual news articles, your patriotism needs to be checked at the door (and if it is not, a couple of hours listening to Mossimo sing is in store for you). - Benny (Fade) 11:45, 26 February 2007 (EST)
No problem! Glad to put my boredom to good use. --Jezralhm 09:36, 27 February 2007 (CET)

Capashinia

Heheh, I find it amusing to see Capashinia listed here, considering that at last news, there were only one or two members...--RubyDragon 01:20, 26 February 2007 (CET)

Aye, and neither of them are conscious at the minute either ;) --Revan 01:29, 26 February 2007 (CET)

Good to Go

Benny - ready to launch whenever you are. Will have much schoolwork to cover, so mightn't have time. But if I find ways to improve template layouts, etc - I will! This will be a running project, improved with time. --Jezralhm 10:09, 1 March 2007 (CET)

Started

I have written a guidelines page to indicate how to write articles etc.. Also added the writers page. Special mention to Raven for his work on that list and on this talk page. --Jezralhm 04:07, 3 March 2007 (CET)

Thanks for starting the newspaper Jezralhm and thanks for all the design work. You are wiki god :)! Good writing guide too.--Rojo 08:12, 3 March 2007 (CET)

IT HAS BEGUN!

(Cue Mortal Combat music now) Alright folks, we're in business. Elenar, you said you had an article on the actual, physical, solider killing war going on, so get that up whenever possible. Everyone else, chip in as necesary. I'm personally really limited in the variety of news I can toss out right now, as I have no real contact with the rest of my family on Atamara, with the exception of my constantly wounded brother, Mossimo. So, while my knowledge of RedSpanner events are top notch... Counting on you guys to bring this into a TRULY Atamaran paper. Also, comments on the first article, both good and bad, are much appreciated and welcome. --Fade 04:51, 6 March 2007 (CET)

Also, I just made the first issue the actual Atamaran Advocate page, but this probably needs to be made into more of an index later on... But we need to keep it cool, sleek, and streamlined. Suggestions? Or has Jez already figured this out, too? =P --Fade 04:53, 6 March 2007 (CET)
I LOLd. I was contemplating of a more natural/cool blue theme. Secondly, yes, the Atamaran Advocate page would probably be an index page (many contributors and issues and ways I've written the guidelines page reason this). --Jezralhm 09:12, 6 March 2007 (CET)

Minus one reporter

I deleted Francisco, so he will no longer be contributing to the Advocate... not that he ever did, but still :) -Pizarro 15:13, 11 March 2007 (CET)

OOC: Inactivity

(OOC: Wow this project has died quite a bit. Unfortunately I don't have the time to keep up with the Wiki due to school. So apologies!) --Jezralhm 08:27, 21 March 2007 (CET)

I would have Reilwin write something, but there doesn't seem to be anything appropriate for the AA yet...still here ;) --RubyDragon 13:30, 21 March 2007 (CET)
It's less that the project has died than there is just really not much going on... Most realms are just kicking back and resettling from some heavy skirmishes, or just building up for one... That, and I was gone a week and still out of tune with what's happening now... --Fade 09:40, 25 March 2007 (CEST)
This obviously isn't the case any more. If anyone is willing, why don't we pick the project back up? --Bannable 14:51, 10 December 2008 (CET)
Best way to do that is to just start writing it again. People who write for papers generally watch the Recent Changes, and will notice the activity. Start off with a new issue, and a notice about resuming operations. You never know who will start writing again. --Indirik 17:43, 10 December 2008 (CET)
