Republic of Fwuvoghor

The Republic is unique across Beluaterra for its restricted powers of government and clear definition of - and protection of - the inherent rights of people. Based on the principles of honor and dignity first laid down in the Order of the Eagle, the slogan used to describe the ideals of the Republic is "Tolerance and Respect" - because with freedom comes the responsibility not to violate the rights of others.

History

The history of Fwuvoghor is documented into 3 Eras, periods of great change. Below is the summary of what can be found in the historical archives.

With the death of Plergoth and the successful wars of the Republic against Avalon, the realm grew from coast to coast : exchanging Melegra for a western region would have made a continuous line from the eastern ocean to the western one. This greatly angered the prince in exile Nicolas Chénier, who could not stand Mordred's Republic and had sought refuge in Enweil after his failed coup attempt. He worked furiously within Fwuvoghor's southern neighbour, the strongest realm on the continent, to see what he viewed as his lands purged from his opponents so that he may reclaim them from the ashes.

After some time, Creasur seceded from the Republic to form the new Plergoth: Heltand. Peace had settled upon the realm, and newcomers were abundant. However, many of them were actually agents for foreign powers or working for the prince in exile. Despite official outlaw and persecution, The Blood Cult grew within the realm, more and more lords joining it. Lord Dewey switched Villriil to Enweil, lord Valachi Orombo to Avalon. All knew of Enweil's referendum to attack RoF, but the issue had not arisen in a very long time.

Nearly a year after the failed coup where Nicolas Chénier and his loyal Glithstra had been banned, tensions arose. Avalon had recuperated from the daimons, the secession and the loss of regions and were getting restless. Enweil too started talking about reclaiming lost lands, notably the region of Piwani, a rural they had lent to Plergoth during the invasion, and Fwuvoghor, which was no longer the capital of the Republic, which had seceded from them to form the realm. The southern powers schemed against Enweil as the conflict broke out, Riombara offered aid to Fwuvoghor in exchange for Melegra, which Mordred accepted. However, Riombara arrived 12 hours too late and could not use the walls of Fwuvoghor as Enweilian lead by the prince in exile himself, who had become a marshal, were already casting out the local officials of the Republic and taking the region for Enweil. Riombaran and Fwuvoghorian troops were crushed and Enweil succeeded while Avalon took regions from the north. Hetland came to RoF's aid, but they could not fend off the Avalonian armies. During this time, more lords left the realm to join their neighbours.

Following a long siege, Zod, the new capital, fell to Avalon. Piwani switched to Hetland as Melegra had to Riombara. The nobles scattered, some of them, such as Mordred, left for Riombara. The Republic was no more, Fwuvoghor was Enweilian once again.
