'''Tricky, Tricky Lalakis?'''

Well, it seems that the Kalmarian Chronicles has asked to know what the Tricks of Avamar are! I am sure that many of the older Sirionite leaders will remember their usurpation of lands not their own (an instance which we have here in Kalmar as well). Perhaps the worst fears of the Old Rancaguans have been comfirmed? That Prometheus' election was not due to their belief that he is a good leader (or their acknowledgement of his claim as the true King of the lands) and their renouncement of a claim upon a land that, for the most part, some 50% of them don't have.

The defence of the Press's honour continues as we enter into what must be the second Journalistic War the East Continent has seen in the past few months. This story can now be found on the [[Old_Rancagua_Press/1st_July_2006/News Reports|July News Reports]] page.

Perhaps this is only a last ditch effort of the Avamarians to avoid the fate of total destruction of a realm they took from another once more, which if this the case would have to constitute Old Rancagua finishing the job. For though it seems Kalmar believes that they and Old Rancagua are evenly matched they are quite wrong. Though the Old Rancaguan troops were stopped, they won to crushing victory in Stora against superior numbers, it was only the very walls of Kalmar City itself which halted the advance, and even then the walls would have fallen had more troops arrived in the City from the recent victory in Stora.

But the action on Kalmar City itself is done, and should this election indeed prove to be a last ditch effort to save themselves then Old Rancagua shall return to finish the task placed before them, to cleanse the isles of the unjust and restore the Monarchy and her rightful King to the throne.

Negotiations have not been underway, for all that has reached the leadership of Old Rancagua is delay tactics by a skilled Avamarian politician, well versed in deceit and deception, and crackpot schemes to divide an already weakened realm, as well sectioning off regions which do not even belong to them from their patron nations. No, negotiations have not been going on, only the sembalance of such talks, but now Kalmar, in their final despair on the eve of another Old Rancaguan invasion (which has been postponed) is slowly giving into the demands made upon them, demands which were made many months ago. It was inevitable really.

It seems that Old Rancagua's pressure through military intervention has been enough to squeeze the first steps towards fulfilling the terms, whinch were laid down by Old Rancagua many moths ago, that island realm must agree to if it is allowed to survive in its current state. Yesterday, Avamarian Chancellor Lalakis stepped down to allow Prometheus (the rightful King) a chance to be elected as the new ruler of the isles. Prometheus' restoration as the ruler of the Isles has been one of the prime goals of the Old Rancaguan leadership since this war began many months ago with the brutal rebellion of El Cid in the name of Avamar. As his first act, Prometheus began the long and arduous task of patching relations between the two northern realms.

The High Council of Old Rancagua is mindful and wary of the tricks of Avamar and will do all they can to ensure that Prometheus' chance to regain the rulership brings fruit, as well as protecting the rights of the exiled Loyalists. Soon it seems negotiations will begin to see if an end the war can be found and a peace treaty can be signed. Will keep everyone updated.....

With the hard-fought victory in Stora and the Avamarian military decimated and in complete disarray, High Marshal Wenliang, in dicussion with the Military Council decided to take the fight to the Avamarian capital, seizing the moment of weakness and marching upon Kalmar City itself. However, upon arrival many nobles failed to arrive due to travel delays and confusion from contradictory sets of orders issued by others. Attacking with only minimal numerical superiority, the battle-hardened Old Rancaguan troops were routed by the heavily entrenched defenders, taking many casualities but inflicting their own upon the city. \

It seems though that the quick and easy campaign that the Old Rancaguan Military High Command had been hoping for has slipped out of reach, but the damage has been done, and the total destruction of the Avamarian mobile and militia troops in Stora and Kalmar City will be a telling factor in the battles to come.

"Kalmarian" infiltrator NABBED WREAKING HAVOC!

As the last rays of sunlight faded over the seaside region of Kazan, a former Avamarian Grand Justiciar and Oligarchian 'Noble' Julia was captured after a spree of brutal murders and property damage. This comes in direct opposition to the Cease-Fire agreement which ended immediate hostilities between the nations of Old Rancagua and Kalmar Islands only a few days ago. One has to wonder if whether this attack was merely the result of a rogue action by a disgruntled Avamarian who does not want peace, or an Infiltrator working under the command of the Kalmarian government.

If it is the earlier then it is most likely that Julia will be tortured and then executed or deported for her discretions and long-standing title as a banned criminal in Old Rancagua. Should it be the latter, then this will mean most likely a resumption of the state of war between the nations of Old Rancagua and Kalmar for violation of the Cease-Fire. Currently, Chancellor Prometheus has denied his knowledge of the actions, which hints that it is a rogue action. Let us hope that for the sake of peace this is the case and Julia is merely a criminal who believes herself as being above the law.

In the memory of true Kalmarians

Well, it seems that the Old Rancaguan Press must defend its honour again for the Kalmarian Chronicles continues to discredit our stories. We must ask the KIC, what is truth? Truth is in the eye of the beholder, what is one truth to an Old Rancaguan, a Fontan or Perdanese, or Sirionite, is very different to usurping Avamarian or a poisoned and deceived Kalmarian. The Press does not deny claim to many of the Kalmarian Nobles, just the Avamarians and Oligarchians who came to the realm right after the rebellion.

It seems that Avamar cannot form its own realm, it must take from others. Yes indeed the entire Democracy is wrong, any government change which comes without the expressed consent of a majority of the original nobles is wrong. However what makes this particular democracy wrong is the fact that the Avamarians (who were in sore need a realm because they are unable to conform to the realms of others) denounced the rebellion, but then accepted it anyway. Thats what Avamarians do it seems, when the realm they infest becomes too weak to maintain them, they move on to another. Do they have any honour whatsoever?

Indeed, the democracy and her rampantly "democratic" Avamarians have probably been around for longer than the Royalists. But why is that? Because the royalists were forcibly removed from their home realm! Lalakis and his band of invaders probably have been in Kalmar longer, but only because many former Kalmarians know that they could never be accepted in a realm such as the one which has been created without drastically changing their beliefs. De-basing themselves before men and women who have robbed them of their homes.

Indeed a majority don't want a monarchy, but who are the most vocal of the realm? Who vote the most? The Avamarians of course! I would bet that the half the Nobles who are truly loyal to the realm which was created by Old Rancagua and Perdan wish to return, but they know that they would privately be persecuted should they open their mouths.

Furthermore, we are nothing like El Cid, for we are only retaking a realm for those who deserve to live in it. You too would be permitted into such a realm, for you are a true Kalmarian also. But, it seems that our honour dictates settlement with Kalmar now that they have a proper leader.

Militarily, Kalmar's only defence is the geographical positioning which forces armies to attack them in tight bottlenecks, reducing their numerical advantage. Concerning your RC's, it's all very well building them, but you have to hold on to them and you were about to loose many of them. Not to mention how you could afford to purchase the troops with average individual incomes of 10 gold per Nobles. Oh wait! Thats right you have Avamarians who siphon in gold from some of the more richer realms to benefit new ones.

Concerning negotiations, there were never negotiations because anything which Lalakis said to us could not be received as from the ruler of Kalmar. Why? Because Prometheus is the true ruler, the former Kings of Kalmar are the only true rulers and thus, now that Prometheus has become the ruler once more we can accept his words as the words of Kalmar itself. We realised long ago that anything Lalakis says is mud, for you cannot barter what is not yours in the first place!

In conclusion, it is the very justness and honour of Old Rancagua which is allowing the Avamarians to remain in Kalmar, for now that you have elected a proper Chancellor the key term of Old Rancagua's pledge to restore Kalmar has been achieved. I only hope that you all give him a fair chance at the rulership, he is an honourable man and deserving of your respect. It is only by unhappy chance that he was robbed of his rightful position.

It is lucky for you indeed that Old Rancagua is virtuous, for it is our desire for peace which allows the Avamarians to remain. Though, it does stain the memory of those true Kalmarians which is most lamentable. For though they are not with us in body, their spirits cry out against the usurpers which took their homeland from them.

Armistices all round

Well, it is not surprising that under the extreme amount of pressure that has been placed upon the former members of the HRA, Ubent and Caligus, since the destruction of Oligarch that they would have to crack soon. With the recent reformation in Caligus, beginning peace talks between the decimated Monarchy realm and the Southern Federation, and the Armistice signed by Ubent today, severely limiting their realm's size, strength and sovereignty it seems that Perdan is very much alone in their fight agains the combined might of the Northern Alliance and the Southern Federation.

Soon perhaps, we will see the first continental peace in many years of bloodshed, death and destruction.

Old Rancagua withstands the verbal attacks of the Avamarians

Despite the vehement verbal attacks from the assorted (still able to walk and talk) Avamarians in Stora, Legatus is by far the loudest. However, it is interesting to note that he was amongst the strongest supporters of the action to rid the Isles of the Avamarian invaders post-El Cid. The finer points of his thoughts on Lalakis, El Cid and Avamar in general which we find mightily agreeable are as follows and can be found here: July News Reports.
