Family Crest

The Kenadottirs have long been a family of scholars and diplomats. Their crest reflects this in the choice of colors and insignia, as well as their words "Cognito antea Dimicatio", meaning "Knowledge before Battle". The crest shows a white field divided by an inverted red chevron. The white signifies peace and wisdom, while the red signifies military strength. The inverted chevron (also symbolically referred to as a rooftop) is used in red to show that the house is prepared to fight to maintain peace, if need be. The covering insignia of the horse rampant was chosen for the creatures known loyalty and intelligence as well as versatility. Horses are widely necessary both in times of war and peace.

Family History

The name "Kenadottir" can literally be translated to mean "Daughter of Kenneth". This became the adopted family name centuries ago, and the legend claims it is because the founder of the family, Kenneth, was a commoner and had no surname. He and his wife gave birth to seven daughters, of which five survived to maturity. When these daughters began to make their respective ways in the world, they were often referred to as "Kenneth's Daughters". They were famous not only for their beauty, but also for their sharp wits and ability to handle weapons. Since then, the family has upheld the name "Kenadottir" in remembrance of these five.

In the more recent generations, the family had been content to operate in the background of social affaris, preferring a quiet life of solitude and study. When news of the war in Summerdale reached their ears, they were intrigued. The youngest daughter, Helena, chose to take this as an opportunity to place her knowledge into practice. She convinced her family to emigrate to Nifel and aid the Dalians in their fight against the Libero and Morek empires.

Family Members in the Nobility

The following contains the records of known family members to enter the ranks of the nobility.

Helena

The daughter of Robert and Margeuritte and twin to Hazel, Helena Kenadottir was the influencing force which persuaded her family to involve themselves in world affairs. Upon reaching Nifel, she established herself at the Kenadottir Manse and began training daily. At just seventeen years of age, she was given a knighthood under lord Wolfgang Traumrauber, and she immediately stated her intentions to him of becoming a courtier and diplomat for the realm.

These plans were pushed to the wayside, however, when the Morekian Empire broke their agreement of a cease-fire on Summerdale and invaded Nifel. Both sides suffered heavy losses, however the aggressors were victorious and Helena and her men were forced to retreat to the city stronghold of Nifelheim.

She was last reported as still being in that city, awaiting the final assault of the Morekians.

Hazel

The daughter of Robert and Mergeuritte and twin to Helena, Hazel Kenadottir had a disagreement with her twin and refused to aid Summerdale, instead choosing to travel to the lands of Tera.

Most recent information on her shows her living in the area of Chuca.

Unrecognized Family Members

The following contains the records of known family members who are not among the ranks of the nobility and are otherwise unrecognized by the family.

Hawkins

Hawkins is the illegitimate offspring of Robert. She is only two and a halve years older than her half-sisters, Helena and Hazel, whom she has never known well. "Hawkins" is not her real name. Her birth name is "Helga", but she always (and very publicly) claimed it was an ugly name, and instead from a young age insisted on being called "Hawkins", which means "One who sells items".

She quickly lived up to her name. At any given time, Hawkins could be found pawning off items to whoever had the coin to buy them. She was first arrested for fencing goods at the age of six, but escaped with a warning. Since then she's had several other brushes with the law, but no further arrests. One can only presume it is because she has not been caught yet - not because she is no longer engaging in "questionable" activities.
