News Flash! - Toren think Ikalak are morons!
30 January 2007 by Mischa Vallejo

In a private message to me today, Fenrir, Paladin Primus of Toren, Count of Neralle, Marshal of the Tor's Retribution wrote to me to tell me what he thought of Ikalaks military genius. Here is the message in whole:

Roleplay from Fenrir (3 hours, 14 minutes ago) I speak respectfully for Ikalak, but plain speaking they are morons and should have won this continent over once they gained Sandlak.

I know what I am capable of doing and think, You can take an army that is three times your strength, what are you capable of doing to one that is half of yours.

I pledged to secure every Toren's life. Sending them to their deaths was not in my contract.

If this means not going aggressive every second that we can then so be it, I know what we are capable of and will not go past our abilities.

Fenrir Paladin Primus of Toren, Count of Neralle, Marshal of the Tor's Retribution

Well, we know what Torens capabilities are don't we! A pity you cannot win the island by hiding in your Stronghold. I tell you, the mountain must be wearing down with all the trudging up and down Toren do!

Lesthem oppressed
25 January 2007 by Lynsey Habap

There is great terror in Lesthem as the inquisitional horror that is the worship of Tor descends upon the land. A brutal takeover that included massacres of unbelievers by Toren troops was completed. The people were too weary of continued Toren depradations to resist any more. After months of work, the yaks who run Toren finally were able to get their paymasters from Ikalak to act in coordination with them. Sadly for the Ikkies, you know the story of their cavalry charges this week. One must assume that Taselak will re-secure their lands, but it is an obvious set-back to the heroes of Falens and so many other fields. Terror has spread to Seggelin as the Toren continue their ritualistic murders. May the true gods be with the people of Seggelin and bring their saviours quickly.

Ikalakian Cavalry decimated
23 January 2007 by Lynsey Habap

In a shocking turn-about, the cavalry which the Ikalakian Times lauded as the saviour of the field in Falens was struck down almost as one. They rushed forward after the opening volleys of arrows, crashing loudly into the waiting Taselakian infantry. The crash could be heard for miles, sounding of crunching bones, crushed armor and the screams of the wounded.

Based on the prior battle, one would have expected Taselak's troops to waver, but they did not. 152 of of the nearly 200 cavalry went down in a heap, 11 of the 15 nobles losing their entire entourage. The very flower of landed gentry from the once-free southlands lay in front of the stolid squares of footmen. Kaysa, Minister of Defense of Ikalak, Countess of Mewun, Marshal of the White Legion, was lifted out of the mire and dragged behind Taselak lines, saving her life from the fearfully wounded horses, driven mad in their agony. 3 other Ikalakan nobles would fall wounded or prisoner in this one blast.

How is it they speak of it? Pride goeth before the fall? No walls of stone here, only walls of shields, grasped firmly by men fighting for their homes, and yet, Taselak emerged victorious. The first part of the battle may have gone the way of the east, but the west prevails yet again when the battle is over.

War continues
22 January 2007 by Lynsey Habap

Defections and defeats continue to wear down Toren, which struggles to hold onto any land while Ikalak waits on the sidelines. Apparently enjoying seeing their ally bled white, Ikalak only fights small skirmishes now, preferring to loot Taselakian territories.

Not surprisingly, disappointment with the yak-like leadership in Toren has lead to defections to Taselak. Interestingly, nearly half of Toren's nobles either sit in Taselak's prison or in Toren Stronghold without a unit. The odds seem quite against Toren ever becoming a full partner in their alliance with Ikalak. One could speculate that when Toren decided they would fight only for second place that they sealed their fate and doomed themselves to ignomy as well as taking a risk of being eliminated before even that option is available.

The boredom in Ikalak from the long marches across the continent and from the infrequent combat is also having its toll. For the first time, Taselak counts more nobles in arms than the neighborhood bully. Perhaps if the few large battles between the two this month hadn't all resulted in Ikalakan defeats, their nobles wouldn't have started pleading with their Prime Minister to turn on Toren. Rumors of such desires float around the Island like leaves on a stream. Perhaps Toren has not long to suffer, nor much to Phear. No verifiable statements about the cash settlements to the Toren leaders from Ikalak's Prime Minister could be found.

The Hero Anslem Falls
9 January 2007 by Lynsey Habap

Badly wounded during the defense of the walls of Belus, Anslem Wexler mounted his trusty charger, blood flowing from his wounds and tears flowing from his eyes. Every man from Death By Lance was done, but their leader, Anslem. "By the gods of my fathers, you shall pay!" he roared, as he raced out the gate. The young Marshal, Roran Thirdlight, tried to stop him, shouting, "Wait, we will all ride them down together!" But alas, the Hero was unstoppable, his thirst for vengeance unquenchable.

He cantered out, alone.

They may have only been archers, but there were still more than 200 of them.

A cheer rose from the walls and Anslem turned to them, shouting through his tears and blood, "For Taselak!" Then, he charged.

The hail of arrows darkened the sky and Anslem and his charger tumbled to the earth.

A silence descended upon the field for a long minute....

Then a roar went up among the Taselakians and they surged out as one into the now-terrified archers of Ikalak. Most of the archers did not escape.

While it was a victory and may have been glorious, the walls of Belus were draped in black for the fallen Hero. Anslem, you will be missed.

Tide Turning?
3 January 2007 by Lynsey Habap

After two more battles in Seggelin, Taselak retains control of the region. The Toren attempt at a Hostile Takeover has failed and their troops are tumbling back to Toren Stronghold. One has to wonder at the wisdom or at least the skill of the Toren leaders, to fail when serving as the weaker sister in a two-on-one fight. Toren gets smaller every week, it seems, with regions and team leaders slowly leeching away. Can the tide have turned against Toren already?
