Oritolon (Realm)/History
The Age of The Ancients
This is the earliest period of Oritolon's history when the continent of The Colonies was born and became home to gods and demons who walked the lands among the men and women they brought there.
Most of that which is known of this time comes from the myths, legends, sagas and folk songs passed down from this time by word of mouth. Often embellished and reworked to suit the times in which they were told how much truth can be found in these tales is uncertain.
The Age of Establishment
This long period of Oritolon's history includes the times in which recognisable government and hierarchy of nobility were brought into being in the realm. The formalisation of internal borders, the creation of armies and the founding of towns and cities were key aspects of this period as was the emergence of a spirit, character and set of values that would come to define Oritolon as a realm for generations to come.
Records of this period are sparse, many written accounts having been destroyed by invaders and traitors in the subsequent age.
The Age of Storms
Starting with 'The Long War' against the theocracies of Alowca and Alebad this most recent period of Oritolon's history includes such tumultuous events as the eradication of theocracy from The Colonies, The Founding of Minas Thalion, 'The Hvrek Treachery', 'The False Reconstitution' and 'The Restoration'.
This period is quite well documented with various sources provided by nobles within Oritolon and elsewhere who took great pains to record the events of the times.
