The Birth of The Colonies and Founding of Oritolon

Seven ancient granite tablets rest in a place of honour in great hall in Oritolon City. The tiny, intricate texts carved upon them have baffled artisans and scholars alike with their impossible quality and detail. Attributed to Loki the Dragonleader and Lady Tasu, this is the tale they tell..

"Once upon a time, when Gods were still battling for dominion, Zeus managed to wound Odin. From the blood that flowed a new continent was formed that was called "the Colonies". The life-force of Odin's blood made the earth bloom and life of all kinds was spread throughout the land. It was at that time that the two-headed beast was born. The strange creature had the skin and body of a snake while two human heads emerged from his shoulders. The heads were those of Ulrich and C. William, two brothers whose story is long lost in the tides of time. It was this creature who was the King of the Colonies.

Roaming the empty kingdom, it waited for others to come... And others came. Hrothgar and Atlas, two companions that had been travelling together since their birth, arrived in the colonies. Their friendship was so strong that could not be shaken by Gods or Mortals. The beast welcomed them with food and wine and women. Engulfed in pleasures the two warriors spent many days on the island.

It didn't take long for other people to join the realm, as words of its wealth and peace were swiftly spread. Darian the wise, Jacque the young warrior, prince Olorin, Mala and Tasu were the next ones to step foot upon the island. It did not take much time for them, to become friends with Atlas and Hrothgar. They all together preferred spending their time in the southern part of the island because of its beautiful plains, the rich forests and the peaceful mountains. They named the place "Oritolon". There, their friendship turned into brotherhood.

Things would still be peaceful in Oritolon if jealousy and greed hadn't flooded the snake's minds. Jealousy of the friendship the rest had developed for each other, and greed for wealth and power slowly changed its attitude. It was spending more and more time in the palace, counting and recounting its coins and its loneliness. It started poisoning Hrothgar's and Atlas' minds, willing to turn the two friends against each other. Within each word the snake had carefully hidden its poison. Slowly and steadily it managed to achieve its goal.

Order and peace had already been deeply wounded when Julius Loki and Galadriel arrived to Oritolon after a while. For a newcomer, it was easier to see what was going on so Loki was the first one to speak up against the snake King and Mala was the first one to join him. After long and hard debates the truth shined again and aggression turned against Ulrich and C. William. One by one the people of Oritolon started to realize the snake's way and what it had done to their brotherhood.

Lust for revenge conquered Atlas' and Hrothgar's spirit. They hunted the strange creature upon the mountains of Windaria, where, after a long battle, they managed to tear its reptilian body in two. Strangely, the two brothers did not die from the separation but continued living, crawling in front of Hrothgar' s and Atlas' feet. They agreed that leaving them alive, crawling for the rest of their lives, would be an even worse punishment than killing them. And so they did.

Olorin was agreed by everyone to replace the snake-King as his wisdom and experience had no match. Together with Darian the wise, who took the position of the Judge, they turned the Realm into a republic. Laws were written and everyone was considered as equal. A new era begun and the story of Oritolon became a legend that was spread throughout all continents, attracting many people to its lands.

Not forgetting the pain the snake had caused, they changed the realm's flag to the one that since now stands proud upon the walls of Oritolon city. It shows two dragon-snakes and a sword between them. The sword symbolizes the strength and the unity of Oritolon's brothers. The snakes are meant to remind everyone that only when the sword is strong the snakes are kept separated. When the sword gets weakened the snakes will join again, devouring the peace of our realm."
