A religion based on drinking alcohol?

You know, I thought the same thing. That it sounded stupid. But then I started to think, and realized that the use of drugs to spur religious visions was quite common. I don't know of any that used alcohol in particular, but I suppose it's possible, especially if you get a particularly powerful drink that doesn't require a lot. (The priests would, of course, control the substance, as you can't have everyone experiencing divine revelation. That type of thing must be strictly controlled to prevent people from thinking they didn't need the priesthood to talk to god, after all.) But then even after I thought about, I realize that I still think it's a ridiculous idea. The religion is structured and named not to worship or follow the teachings and guidance of higher beings, but as an excuse to drink and get plastered.
