History
The Simmons family originated as a group of freeman farmers in Wor'ight, Atamara. The patriarch, Leonard, was raised to knighthood after saving the life of the wife of the local count. His sons, Nathan and Barnabas were the first members of the family to travel outside the homestead.

The elder Simmons brother, Barnabas stayed home caring for his ailing parents for several years after Nathan went out into the world, only leaving after Nathan had already left the Ash Sea Islands for Falasan. When the Islands were destroyed, Barnabas headed west to Carelia, arriving several months before his brother.
Barnabas spent most of his life as a priest of Magna Serpaensism. With the destruction of the Ash Sea Islands and the deaths of most of the higher members of the order, Barnabas became the sole priest for an extended period, often taking beatings at the hands of believers of Evgenism. However, with Priestess Macima Darksun defecting Rogeshore to Tara with the coronation of Nathan as King of Carelia, Carelian sentiment went against the followers of Evgenis, and Barnabas decided to turn back to a martial lifestyle.
