Destroyed in Naraka

July 2

Last night, the armies of Heen and Vlaanderen were ordered to March to Naraka and fight with the undead that had been lurking around Reeds for a long time. With the new relations between Heen and the monsters, they were expected to join the two human realms in the fight against the undead. That evening was spent rallying troops, sorting out their equipment and making sure everyone knew the plan. They were to travel throughout the night and set upon the undead in the morning.

Dawn came and the monsters had not shown up. An army of almost 350 human forces with the odd monster thrown in faced 4 of the undead commanders, totalling 552 in force. Hannibal was seen with the Legendary Plate Mail of Strength and the Broken Mace of Suffering. Dohlor is wielded the Black Shield of Piety and Maldiciones has the Ancient Sabre of Daemonslaying. One the side of the allies, the Monster Loud Tongue had Ucdauh's Ring, but obviously against such opposition it wasn't enough.

The attackers were in wave formation, with three camel units charging forward first. They cleaved into the undead, but almost every single soldier was struck down from their camels and killed. Seeing this, the rest of the nobles rushed in to save them, but to no avail. Many leaders were wounded for both Heen and Vlaanderen. But in amongst the melee of that first charge, the undead leader Dominus had been wounded. The battle raged on, and at the final count 191 undead were destroyed, with all but 3 of the allied forces taken out. It was Thrydwulf's first loss as High Marshall. In total, 8 troop leaders were left wounded in Naraka, with the undead using the dead soldiers to replenish their numbers. They now head for Heen lands... The full battle report can be found here: Destroyed in Naraka

Undead Advancing

July 2

Reports came in thick and fast this evening of an undead horde pillaging in Sotrebar, perilously close to our city of Latlan. Little is known about the group yet, as no scoutings have come back from the region. Hopefully they will remain in Sotrebar so that the Heenites can return to their capital and refit after they have recovered from their wounds.

Other reports have been sent to members of the realm from others indicating two other groups of undead heading into Heen territory. One undead group is marching towards Kif, possibly heading for Heen. Maldiciones was last spotted heading towards Watto from the battle in Naraka, possibly heading for Tahgalez.

As Queen Martana was injured in the battle in Naraka, the High Marshall Thrydwulf has been acting in her place. He spent most of the day in deep conversation with the undead General Hannibal. A few personal questions were asked and answered, and as a show of good faith, he claimed that they would not siege our cities, despite what it looks like. Can we trust their word?

Monster Madness

July 4

While the undead continue to encroach into the desert lands of Heen. The brave troop leaders, many still wounded from the massacre in Naraka attempt to return to Heen, and remove as much of the small groups of monsters/undead that have begun to accumulate in the lands.

The first few nobles have already reached Heen, and begun to find suitable soldiers for a unit. The recruitment centres will certainly be busy in the coming weeks. All the while, the monsters remain in persuit of the undead; hindering their advances deeper into the desert. While some of the monsters have proven to be of use, others in the vicinity - namely those in Aku are doing nothing but argue with each other about what they must do.

Many undead commanders have been spotten within Heen lands, with two more - including the undead Leader (Summoner) heading for Aku. If all the Heenite's can get back and rally a unit in the next couple of days, it is hoped that the undead will be driven from the desert.
