Syl is the ostensible progeny of Paul Marlboro, a deceased hero of Asylon. Shortly after his death she managed to contact her cousins on Atamara and inform them of her existence. After a bit of back and forth Winston sent her official papers of recognition and some gold for a trip to Beluaterra, so that his brother Red might keep an eye on her. After all, neither of them had ever trusted Paul much.
