The same thing can be done with message groups.Take your nobles and throw them into a group, give it a name and you're done. If refurendums could be handed out to message groups you could set up all sorts of voting strata.--Dalakar 12:41, 12 March 2008 (CET)

EX: Message Groups

to - everyone in "Forum Publicus -Those interested" (public group) <- adjunct to the senate

to - everyone in "Ordo Tacitics -Military Planning" (public group) <- advises the general and discusses stratagey

to - everyone in "Senate -Those who decide" (public group) <- acts as a diplomatic and interior Council

Yes, you can set up these groups manually. But no members are automatically included, the ruler has unassailable power of patronage over them and currently I am not sure how referendum's could be delivered to manually made message groups. The difference with these Councils is that they will be part of the game mechanics. Part of a realms governance by matter of course. It also forces serious medieval behaviour I think. If a ruler wants to attack the power of his Judge for example, he will have to be more creative than simply pulling him from a message group. --Revan 15:24, 12 March 2008 (CET)
A realm would have to be drastically different from the one that uses these message groups for the ruler to be able to get away with removing people on a whim. The nation itself would rise up against such an action and that would be a very atmospheric response. Automatically including someone who does not wish to take part is a waste of effort, if one is not willing to make the effort to request access it is rather pointless to include them automatically just so they ignore everything. --Dalakar 15:38, 12 March 2008 (CET)
Why would you prefer to have to use message groups for these Councils over having Tom add the functionality to make them officially blessed parts of the code? It's not like you can't still make whatever councils you want with message groups... --Anaris 21:43, 12 March 2008 (CET)
I agree. These new message groups will be great, so long as they do not subtract from the five groups that a ruler can create. This is like getting two or three more message groups for free. --Indirik 23:24, 12 March 2008 (CET)
I can think of one reason not to use this over the usual message groups: realm themes and styles. What if some realm has a 'Senate' rather than a 'diplomatic council'? Realms have different names for their various message groups and making them all cookie cutter doesn't seem all that conductive to imaginitive player input. I'd rather not see yet another useless 'feature' added that simply takes away from an open style game and conforms every realm to one generic mold. -Balewind
The possibility to rename them would indeed be valuable. -Chénier 01:33, 13 March 2008 (CET)
