The contents on this page discuss a possible new feature. It may or may not be ever included in the game, and it may or may not be partially in testing somewhere (usually on the testing branch).
In short, consider this page is a sketchpad of sorts and don't rely too much on things written here until this notice disappears.

A council is a group of people, often peers, that discuss affairs and set policies, without being the ones to do the implementation. A parliament is a large council, but it isn't the government (though in modern democracies, the government is often elected by and from inside the parliament).

In BattleMaster, we want councils, because they give additional options for people that don't crave titles, but have qualities in certain aspects. As such, the idea is to set up three councils, with automatic members (to make management easy) and an option to add further members from among all nobles of the realm. This also makes it possible to add people by other titles, such as guild or religion leaderships.

Councils

The Diplomatic Council

This council deals with all questions regarding foreign affairs. The ruler is the only automatic member.

The Interior Council

This council deals with all internal affairs of the realm, which is why region work reports get sent here, for example. The judge and banker are automatic members of this council, as are all dukes of the realm.

The Military Council

This council is the high-level deciding committee of the military branch. The general and all marshals of the realms' armies are automatic members of this council.

Features

The government members in every council can add and substract more members, who can be seen as advisors to the council. For example, the military council might opt to include a few strategy experts, irrespective of their ranks and positions.

The councils can also be named something else, in order to fit in with the atmosphere of the respective realm.
