Gregor tasted the wine. The drink was strong and had an intense flavor. It was a rustic drink, like him and Abilotiel. He looked the young lady. He could marry her, but he would not betray his wife's memory. Offer the son was just a provocation. And he hoped to be entertaining by the young Lady, but obviously he had more stories to tell.

Gregor Eyolf: "I was hoping you could tell me about your ambitions. But it is pretty obvious. Like my own ambitions when I was young like you. And here I am. My memories are like a mist obscuring the past. Maybe today I can remember precisely the path that I followed to get here..."

He took another sip of wine and ran a hand through his long beard. It was like diving into a distant dream. A dream of glory and honor that few people had experienced. And maybe he was one of the last ones alive to tell about such dream.

Gregor Eyolf: "I fought by Ikalak, the great White City. We were outstanding against our enemies. A wild and uncontrollable power. In a world where the only viable diplomacy was to destroy everyone that dared to fight against our greatness. My story started when I was still very young. Young as you. My brother, Vinatyfir Serpentis was also young. He was a good archer. He was also a hero. And with an impetuous temperament. Victorious, he accepted a duel to the death against Lady Sienna, a highly skilled 'swordswoman' of Sandalak and a veteran of the first war. The inevitable happened and he died..."

Gregor was old. There wasn't more grief in the death of his brother. The destiny was the destiny.

Gregor Eyolf: "As you can see, I'm huge like a bear. My arms had been trained for the longbow and to shoot arrows that few men could. I knew the secrets of a good archer. Hear and feel the wind. Do not think in a target. Just feel the target. And shoot the arrow as if it were an extension of my own will. Want a good volley and know that the arrow would be accurate. I rarely missed. And my archers were very good. My revenge was to see the fall of Sandalak..."

The most common image of Gregor was the war hammer. A heavy and destructive weapon. It was certainly enlightening to know that those strong arms were trained with a bow.

Gregor Eyolf: "The fall of Sandalak was just the beginning. Our power has grown considerably. I have earned my place in an elite garrison of archers, the best ones under Ikalak banner, serving the new Duke of Sandalak City. You may think that the winter is harsh on our lands... but few armies would be able to withstand the brutal cold of regions like Saenna and Rhic. We struggled in large hills and valleys of ice and snow. And we impose our victorious flag in those regions. We also struggled in cold badlands and not feels guilty when we took the Cave of Guilty. Our valiant enemies fought under the banner of Taselak. And I certainly never see an enemy so valiant and combative. But we won in every region. And we marched victorious in Taselak City many times. I was a fervent advocate of killing those enemies. But my own realm didn't listen. Perhaps because I was too young. We let them agonizing to try other victories..."

The old Lord paused and took another sip of wine, trying to discover if his listener was already sleepy. But the story didn't stop... his memories seemed to arouse instinctively.

Gregor Eyolf: "We have already conquered and colonized almost the entire southern regions of the big island. So we left the cold and look for the humid heat of northern regions. Toren has never been an effective ally on an island where allies never existed. We conquered the vast forests. And we marched climbing the impressive mountains of Toren Stronghold, struggling against rocks and walls. We were victorious. But internally, Ikalak began to crumble. Sir Moonglum II was the new Lord of Sedalak after his father died in battle. The greedy young Lord bought the city that belonged to his father. We had the same opinions: destroy Tesalak before fighting Toren. But he went further. He was a traitor. The greatest traitor already known. When he was ignored, cowardice and betrayal spoke louder. I abhorred him. My own Lord ignored me. And he betrayed an entire realm. He handed over the greatest duchy of Ikalak to Tesalak. He changed the war's course. He was an ignorant coward, arrogant and childish Lord..."

At that moment she saw the anger in the stern eyes of the old hero. His past was incredibly. Full of victories... and betrayals. He drained the chalice and rose up to serve more wine to both of them. He couldn't sit down again.

Gregor Eyolf: "A betrayal ruined us. Tesalak grew in power once again and attacked us. But we never give up. And even when our ambition was boundless, Toren understands that we should not let Tesalak prevail. Tremendous hordes marched against us in the territories that we have already claimed. They took everything that was ours. And more. At that time we were fighting bravely and were planning the resistance. Finally, I received some respect. I had warned them many times and they ignored me. It was necessary to see the fall of an empire to recognize my advices. They gave me Unagae, a sword and the responsibility to handle a small elite army. While the resistance protected the south and the White City, I marched with the most valuable men through the north, facing the forests and many obstacles in an attack that would be our final blow. The last, and perhaps the first of a great reaction that will prove that we were still alive to take back our power and greatness..."

At that time, Gregor paused and drained his cup in one long sip. Few men had experienced so many battles, conquers, victories and betrayals. And fewer men had seen the world stop.

Gregor Eyolf: "The gods grew tired of us. Enraged, without warning, they made the world stop in an endless night. A red moon that remained constantly in a dark and cold sky. The sea shook violently, ready to swallow the earth. The fear has been perpetuated among the humankind. Our last flags fell and thirsty monsters spread without fear. I witnessed the rise and fall of a brutal world. The White City was the last bastion of hope struggling against the darkness. The people migrated in long processions. Enemy Nobles dropped their swords and looked for shelter behind our walls. It was impossible to measure time, but the gods were increasingly angry. I went one of those who stayed almost until the last moments, like a hawk in the great towers watching the ships leaving, fighting against a furious sea. The fate was inevitable and then I left with my family. Many left as conquerors and explorers with the rumors that some sea wolves had discovered a land that they call of Dwilight... a hope. They wanted to keep fighting. They wanted to reconstruct what the gods had destroyed. But I got tired of treachery and cowardice. And so, I arrived in the Far East..."

Gregor served more wine for him and for the young Lady. Then, he finally sat down again. His stormy voice calmed down a bit.

Gregor Eyolf: "My last real war was in Lasanar, when we destroyed Ethiala. Since then, there were only minor skirmishes and constant battles against monsters in Abilotiel. Here I was appointed as Lord of Isular and then conquered my right as Lord of Abilotiel. When Lasanar collapsed and divided, I was the strong hand that guided Papania as Lord Gold, sometimes as Lord Justice and eventually as the High Lord, a position that I left for young and ambitious nobles. Sometimes I marched to the far south to fight against some enemies, but never in the history of Far East we will have a war that does justice to my past. And now I'm old... the positions of right and administration consumed my warrior spirit. And eventually, all that remains to the old heroes is telling tales about a glorious past. Here, I have not failed to find treachery and cowardice. I also saw the rise and fall of realms by the greed and folly of their rulers. And maybe, someday, the gods get tired of us too... but I don't intend to be here to see it happen once again."

She was impressed with so rich history lived by a single man. In fact the history of a world, told through the life of a man.

Listening carefully and taking mental notes about everything said by the old man, she passed the entire night imagining the battle and the political scheme of a world filled with blood and battles.

Looking for a moment through the window, remembering the recent letters that she received, as well as the histories that her brother told about his early days in this realm.

The young lady was a little upset with this young nobles, youths as she herself, that don't could see the beauty in the situation of this realm. The peace.

Maybe if they could find a place like this Ikkalak, they could be happier.

After this short moment of reflection, she turned her eyes back to the eyes of the old Lord and warrior. Sophytia thought to speak, but she failed in found a point in which she could interrupt the old man. In true she wanted to listen everything.

When the man apparently finished his tales, she took a deep sip of wine and looking at the firmly at the eyes of the Hero, she spoke.

"You are a impressive man, Lord Gregor. And your tales are no less impressive than you. And what make all this more amazing is that its history. Everything happened. All the battles, empires rising and falling, a entire world erased by the gods! I never heard about this, and be sure that I'll never forget."

The sun start to show its face in the horizon. Seeing the light starting to bypass the window, she stand up and made a reverence to her host.

"The sun is rising. It's time to go back to my work. I'm very proud that our families are establishing closer ties. Be part of a history with a past, and a present, so rich is, without doubt, a great honor."

She turned to the door and started her way out of the house. Before leave, looking back over her shoulder, she said.

"As I said, I'll send a letter to my brother informing your decision, but now I'll also append this history. Your history. He will like to know about all this."
