The Destiny is the Destiny

The Stormwalkers were again in the road to Avamar. The soldiers were bored with the constant trips, but Erik didn't seem concerned. Nesrah was accompanying the Judge of Sirion in that travel and tried to encourage the men with some fantastic histories.

Captain Karl: "Some men are concerned with our destiny... Dale and Tabost are not more under the flag of Sirion and they fear an invasion in Trinbar."

The Captain accompanied the Judge's steps and the old bewitching. The future was uncertain. But Erik continued smoking the herbs in his pipe. After thinking a little he got the men's attention, beating the gauntlet twice against the chest of the armor.

Erik Eyolf: "I will tell a history to you. A music. A music on what we will do with Fontan when this war changes. What we will do when their blood is in our hands... listen!"

Hangman, hangman, hold it a little while,

Think I see my friends coming, riding a many mile.

Friends, did you get some silver?

Did you get a little gold?

What did you bring me, my dear friends,

To keep me from the Gallows Pole?

What did you bring me to keep me from the Gallows Pole?

I couldn't get no silver, I couldn't get no gold,

You know that we're too damn poor to keep you from the Gallows Pole.

Hangman, hangman, hold it a little while,

I think I see my brother coming, riding a many mile.

Brother, did you get me some silver?

Did you get a little gold?

What did you bring me, my brother, to keep me from the Gallows Pole?

Brother, I brought you some silver,

I brought a little gold, I brought a little of everything

To keep you from the Gallows Pole.

Yes, I brought you to keep you from the Gallows Pole.

Hangman, hangman, turn your head awhile,

I think I see my sister coming, riding a many mile.

Sister, I implore you, take him by the hand,

Take him to some shady bower, save me from the wrath of this man,

Please take him, save me from the wrath of this man.

Hangman, hangman, upon your face a smile,

Pray tell me that I'm free to ride,

Ride for many mile.

Oh, yes, you got a fine sister,

She warmed my blood from cold,

Brought my blood to boiling hot

To keep you from the Gallows Pole,

Your brother brought me silver,

Your sister warmed my soul,

But now I laugh and pull so hard

And see you swinging on the Gallows Pole

Swingin' on the gallows pole!

The soldiers laughed at the cruelty of the music. And they understood the meaning. It didn't care if Fontan seemed with the advantage. The Stormwalkers struggled for the Judge of Sirion. The man that governed Trinbar and pulled the prisoners' gold. The champion that struggled in Oroya and Commonyr. And the time of the victories would return. They would go back to plunder the lands of Fontan, to rob their wives, the gold and silver. And for the whole road there would be hung men. If the victory was in defending Avamar, the Stormwalkers they would be there. And now they had the expectation of abandoning the walls after the combat to plunder the enemies. The destiny is the destiny... and the destiny of Sirion was the victory.

(OOC: Leadbelly - Gallis Pole. The lyrics is of Led Zeppelin's version. I didn't find the original version. Enjoy.)
