Rain & Storm - Part IV

Erik entered the tent. The Duke of Avamar was traveling just with a light armor and the withe Ucdauh's Cloak of Piety. The Sacred Sword was resting on his belt. Erik had a sobering picture of a errant warrior without the luxuries attributed to hos title. And without all the preparation that he used to have before an important battle. He surprised her entering the tent with a little cat purring between his legs. Probably by the first time, Erik look at her with a flame of admiration in his eyes. He studied the image of the young huntress.

Erik Eyolf: "Excuse me, M'Lady. I think I owe you many apologies."

The Duke was looking to see if she was wearing the Crown of Avamar, the necklace he had given her. He bent down for a moment and picked up the kitten in his hands.

Erik Eyolf: "I heard something about a curse. My name causing chills and crazy actions. I know I was loutish, but this is really necessary? All this hate... this is never a good thing, Lady Rain. We don't want to leave your father worried, do we? I know you will love to wash your honor with my blood in a duel. I have a counterproposal. It seems we will march together to Blaastambar. I will join your army to make this travel. And I would love if you decide to march at my side. We can talk and make peace. I am not a monster, just a bit stupid..."

Erik looked peaceful and serene. Very differnt of the eccentric or violent noble he was used to be. He was storking the kitten with a gentle smile in his face.

Erik Eyolf: "I failed with you. And I don't like to fail. Give me a chance and we can fix it. I already have many people hating me now and a bunch of ungrateful guests. We are family, Lady Rain. You and your father..."

And he certainly surprised the young huntress when he knelt as a Knight offering the first oath.

Erik Eyolf: "Accept my apologies, Lady Rain. Please..."

He stood there waiting for her reaction and to find out what would be her answer. He knew that there were two paths, but when he entered the tent he was determined to follow any path necessary to reach the desired goal. It was like looking at Erik in his prime when he was a Cavalier untouched by the evils of war. His first moment as Judge and Silver Dragon. He was a beautiful elf. Especially when he seemed to emanate virtue and kindness. Erik Eyolf Serpentis was a conqueror.
