Hieros Gamos
The Sacred Marriage

After the early morning tasks, Erik left all his business and canceled any event that needed his attention. That was an attitude that had won its existence in a quick decision. However, the city began to simmer with the news. For a Duke the time was just another whim. His wish became reality in a blink. The crowd filled the Old District and waited until the gates were opened to flow within the squares and gardens until the temple. The merchants were removed of the Sirion River to give way for richly ornamented boats. A privileged view of the marriage rituals. The public clamor was amazing.

Erik walked up the stairways with his usual proud. He let the crowd admire him in his ceremonial robes and with a draconian silver crown on his head. Blessed by the Goddess. He had married the first time in the forests of Dolmbar like a Hunter. After that he married at the foot of the walls in Trinbar where he sworn to protect Sirion against the hordes. He married there like a Warrior. Then was time to marry the High Priestess of Avamar at the greatest temple of Sirion. Now as The Silver Dragon. Before entering a priestess fulfill her role in the ceremony.

Priestess: "Who among the elves dares to request the greatest honor of our Temple?"

Erik Eyolf: "The one whose name could not be said. Let me in, because when I leave you all will be my wives, sisters and daughters. I chased Her in the wildness. I turned myself in Her sword and shield. Now I'm here to conclude the cycle. Let me in...."

The Silver Dragon entered when the sun crowned the sky over the temple. Throughout the afternoon there was little to entertain the crowd. The main preparations were secret and Erik appeared to their eyes just when he advanced through the chambers to swear oaths of allegiance with the Goddess and the temple. He did the same in Dolmbar and Trinbar, but the ritual was always different. Only when the night began to fall the couple finally appeared on a balcony. The High Priestess was a woman of awe-inspiring beauty and a powerful aura. The crowd was delirious at the sight of the two greatest powers of Avamar now united by the Sacred Marriage. Erik had been waiting for that moment for a long time. A time that is not wasted in a long exhibition.

The marriage's first pleasures were always the tastiest ones. The communion should be complete and perfect to please the Goddess. Touch Her was a rare delight. Only this could justify the faith and zeal. The honored sacrifice. The glorious victory. The power to ascend over the kinds like a dragon. That delight...

The couple left the temple when the moon reached the middle of the great arched sky dotted with stars. They walked down the stairs that gave access to the Sirion River and disappeared inside a ship. The procession illuminated the river down to the Elven Bay in Al Amarah, then they continued alone to Karbala. Erik wanted to see again the southern border and relax a bit where he obtained his greatest conquests.
