Blood & Fire

Akesh Temple was seething with the preparations for the latest and greatest wedding; one last party before Erik definitely retire to the mountain’s heart. Everywhere a horde of servants were busy with preparations worthy of the biggest party Sirion had ever seen, equivalent only to the great triumphs that the old dragon had given himself after every great victory, marching victorious and covered with war spoils after defeat his enemies, erasing the name of fallen kings or reminding them just for his own fortune, as those who deserved a footnote in his conquests.

Facing this scenario, the young warrior stood out in the crowd, opening the way to the Citadel of Emolris where the Margrave received his people to spread his mercy in his last courts, exceptionally in a good mood in those last days among his people, adored and cherished as the living god that he claimed to be. Erik was sitting on his throne with Edric at his side, letting his son take notes of his last wishes before sending the young one to Luria Nova to replace Henrich and to learn how to wage war and to show if his scholar life prepared him for an unknown realm, more competitive than Sirion. As Erik had observed in the vast family correspondence, Luria was as Sirion had been in the past -- maybe even more prolix and competitive and definitely a better environment for a young Serpentis than the cold and silent grave that the Land of the Elves had become with his eternal oligarchy in perpetual power. With a nod, the guards opened the way while the crowd whispered impressed with the proud and mysterious figure who entered the hall and knelt before the Margrave.

Mysterious Warrior: “Milord…”

Erik Eyolf: “Introduce yourself, warrior, if you cannot find a bard or a squire to do it for you.”

Mysterious Warrior: “My name is Krivida Eyolf Serpentis, proud daughter of Retarte, Avatar of Desire, Goddess of the Earth and Sexual Pleasures, Mistress of Massacre…”

Edric Eyolf, murmuring to himself: “To the netherworld, land of no return, Retarte, daughter of Sin, set her mind.”

Krivida Eyolf: “… and of Aienheint, Avatar of Balance, Lord of the Silver Fountain, Ruler of the Marble Castle and Guardian of the Ivory Tower.”

Edric Eyolf, completing another fragment: “For with what judgment you judge you shall be judged, and with what measure you measure, it shall be measured to you again. With the same severity you judge you shall be punished.”

Krivida Eyolf: “I’m here before you, father, as your daughter in this life and another!”

With these words, Krivida stood up in all her warrior joy, removing the winged helm with a dragon mask, leaving her red hair fall like a cascade of blood over her pauldrons. Her breastplate decorated with silver inlaid patterns, as well as her vambraces, gauntlets, greaves and solarets shone with the dancing light of the torches. In her fine tuille was the belt with her swords: the longsword of elvish steel at her right and a khopesh blade at her left, a spoil from the Sultanate. It was obvious why she did not need a bard, for her voice was enough to make the men raise their spears and women wetting their thighs. She was beautiful like the most delicious sin and it was also obvious that Erik had recognized his daughter as soon as she entered the hall.

Erik Eyolf: “My daughter, indeed. My Crimson Dragon, my pride and delight. Are you ready for your duty?”

Krivida Eyolf: “I’m ready to travel to Vix Tiramora and bathe in Perdanese blood. I will bring them victories and then I will return to rule over your lands. I shall rule with blood and fire. I will turn their women into widows and their children into orphans. No man will know my mercy ‘cause it’s not a cheap prize to give. They shall eat ashes when I finish my quest.”

Erik Eyolf: “Then you’re ready to go with my bless. Make me proud, blood of my blood!”

Krivida grinned at her brother, blinking one of her beautiful blue eyes before leaving the hall. Both had a mission and a duty to bring a new era of prosperity to the House of Serpentis. She had just made obvious that she was a warrior and was marching to war ready to write her name in history with blood and fire.
