And I Like It
You know I like it...

Erik was leaving Salta and stopped under the cold dawn to watch the walls of Ashforth. Strong. That was how he felt that first day of elections. His name was not on the list after years exercising the Justice of Sirion. Captain Andre stopped next to him. Unfortunately he didn't have the same appreciation that Karl. But he had become a more experienced Captain than his predecessor. The Judge had rewarding him with good war spoils. However, sometimes Erik liked to share his thoughts with his Captain.

Erik Eyolf: "Can you hear? The night is shaking. They want to fly too. A lot of young dragons flying to new dens while the old dragons choose different paths. Roaring. Thundering. With beautiful words and sharp claws. To lead. To enter the Great Halls they have never seen. To sit on dragon thrones where so many others sat down before them. To prove that their path can continue shining or if they will disappear like an unknown soldier. We will see great changes. But not today. This is my time."

Erik punched the Captain's shoulder and returned to his tent. He had decided to stay out there and enter the city with the sun to shine his way. The Duke was expecting a visit that was coming from far away. Very far away. But that night, she arrived. Gormok, The Judge's Right Hand had brought her into a fast coach and the best horses of Slimbar. An angry woman from very far away. She winds to the tent. The first sight was in silence. Erik was waiting for her, but not at that very night. The second reaction was explosive. She took the first silver chandelier she saw to throw against him. Erik had little time to dodge before she started yelling:

Woman: "You're an idiot? You cannot do that right now. I am a married woman, you know? That stupid monster took me home without gave any explanation to my husband. You cannot do that just because you are..."

Erik Eyolf: "The Judge of Sirion? The Silver Dragon and Duke of Avamar?"

Woman: "All these stupid titles that everyone repeats in all four winds and many others. Maybe some you don't even know, Great Fool. How many years since your letters?"

Erik Eyolf: "I don't know. But you're not so young now..."

The angry woman drove into him. For a moment Erik remembered the tigers he had seen in Avamar. It was a beautiful likeness. He held she tight.

Erik Eyolf: "I remember you. You remember who I was in those days? Count of Dolmbar, Judge of Sirion just at the beginning of my career. I was young and ambitious. I had led armies. I won the duel in Slimbar. You can still see that elf? We never see eachother since that day. I'm sure you heard about me. And I tried to always heard from you and your life."

Woman: "Why you did it?"

Erik Eyolf: "I needed them. The people. And I did that they needed me. But I'm free now. I did my best for them. I climbed a stairway to heaven. To the stars where I can rest and look."

Woman: "That doesn't justify kidnap me. Who said I wanted to see you? The Lord that I have in my memory is much better than you. And from what I knew about you and your bastard children. And everything you've been doing. The people speak. I have an honor to protect."

Erik Eyolf: "Then, first we have to know eachother after so many years, angry lady from very far away... tell me about your little merchant you call husband. About your father, mother and sister. Tell me about Slimbar and the my ancestor's house there. You can even talk about your little dog if you have one. But first, let me introduce myself. I bet you didn't know that half of my soul belonged to a bard. We like to sing. We like to dance and fight. And we like to love..."

Erik held her in his arms and danced with her inside the tent under the moonlight. They remembered when they were younger. When Sirion was still young for them. Stripped of his masks and titles, Erik sang to her.

Erik Eyolf: "This is my life. How I'm satisfied. Don't try to keep me tied, no. So why not let me be satisfied? This is my life. This is my way. This is my time. This is my dream. You know I like it. How it suits me fine. Look around and tell me what you see. Is it the same things you want me to be? I've seen it all happen so wrong before. Believe when I say its a bore. I need more. Because this is my time. I'm doing my best. So why not get away from the mess? This is my dream. You know I like it. You know it's mine."

And that night Erik sat with a friend to talk about their lives. To share something. Something to remember.
