A Small Tyrant
A small lesson of how suffocate oppositions

Erik received the result of the elections with a smile in the face. Nesrah has just arrived to Montijo with a copy of the results. The youth Count was finishing the meal, drinking a good wine and dictating some letters while read some others.

Nesrah: "The difference was of 10 votes again. You will have to work very hard to kill this difference in the next elections."

Erik Eyolf: "I don't know if I want work for that, old guardian. The Council of Sirion is as I suspect. I imagined that Dukes had the true power to represent the people, but our Prime Minister squeezes the will of all with a iron fist. And he doesn't recognize his mistakes same when the votings proved that our decision was right and his decision was wrong."

Nesrah: "But the experience was good, you learned much more in one month than some can see during all life."

Erik Eyolf: "Do you want to hear what I learned? I learned that ours Prime Minister doesn't respect the decision of the Council and doesn't respect the will of Sirion. I discovered that his chosen inverted the voting again. And I imagine how many interests Sir Handow has in choosing a friend instead of assisting the desire of Sirion. You should know how many interests involve the choice of a new Duke. Sir Handow took a decision and any force or logic in this world made him change of decision, after all his interests are larger than the interests of Sirion."

Nesrah: "Calm down, young Erik Eyolf. You are not Judge now and your words can inspire some angry..."

Erik Eyolf: "My good friend... I cannot be the Judge anymore, but my opposition to this shameful government will be eternal. And now I know better than before how Sir Handow deceives the people of Sirion expecting small opportunities to act as a tyrant. He is in the government for so much time that forgot who placed him there. The power corrupts men with little faith."

The youth warrior lifted up and left that the squires helped to place the armor. He had work to do in Montijo. That certainly would make him forget Sir Handow and the small show in the Council. Only one thing hovered in his head: Why Sirion have a Council if the decisions are made for just a man? Something to think...
