On the Evil of the Angels of Ulrith

To understand why the Angels of Ulrith is viewed as evil by Sanguis Astroism, we must start at the beginning.

The Story

The story goes that a Dame named Raine ventured through a portal. The portal brought her to the netherworld, a place many daimons call home. While hiding from daimons and monsters that came across her path, she stumbled upon a man that was alone and bound by chain to a large rock. This man called himself Ulrith and claimed to be a god, not a daimon, and deemed her to be the first of his angels. His task for her was to bring followers to his name stating that the more that follow and worship him, the greater his power grows. Once he had enough power he said, he would be able to break free of his chains, and return to dwilight to fight evil on this land. He warned that should she fail to help him break his chains, and if all of his kind are killed, then daimons will enter Dwilight from the netherworld in droves and wreck havoc.

The Nature of Gods and Daimons

While I and the SA do not recognize any Gods, and while I am not aware of the existence of any Gods, I have spent much time during my years studying numerous mythologies and folklores of different religions and Gods. I have never heard of a God that needed worship to have power. That is the tune of daimons, what daimons require for power. Daimons, lacking true power, need power given to them by the worship of men. Any individual man not being very powerful themselves however can only give a daimon a little power in their worship. So then for a daimon to grow powerful, they need hordes of men to worship them. This is very much the opposite of a God, as a God generates their own power, and does not require the worship of men for power.

Additionally, considering that Dame Raine went to the netherworld where daimons reside, and reportedly witnessed many daimons herself, then it is not a stretch to believe that the man she spoke to was in fact a daimon and not a God as he claimed. It is not a stretch either to believe that a daimon may take on different forms for deception, and to lure others to do their bidding. It also does not make sense that a God, if there are such things, would be venturing into the netherworld by itself where it then got captured. To add to this, if Ulrith was a God, it would make far more sense for the daimons to kill him, and especially not leave him alone without guards, bound to some rock, waiting to be found.

Ulrith, the Daimon

Sanguis Astorism considers the Angels of Ulrith evil because evidence and reason as shown above leads to the conclusion that the being known as Ulrith is a daimon. The goal of the Angels of Ulrith then is to gather enough worshippers to bring forth a daimon into this plane of existence, into Dwilight, which would cause unimaginable amounts of human bloodshed and terror.

Ticking Clock

Another issue with the Angels of Ulrith is that this religion includes a 'ticking clock'. Their teachings say that if Ulrith is not saved quickly enough, then there will be mass death and destruction in our plane from a daimon invasion. This is a doomsday event. Such belief of an impending doomsday event promotes adherents and followers to become fanatical and dangerous to mankind and the realms that keep it civilized. It causes them to do anything in the name of their faith including betraying, deceiving, and manipulating their fellow man in order to get more adherents before the doomsday event they fear will take place.

Conclusion

The followers of the Angels of Ulrith should not be taken lightly. Some religions benefit mankind, some religions harm mankind. Attempting to bring forth a daimon to Dwilight and incorporating a ticking clock doomsday scenario harms mankind and thus the religion known as the Angels of Ulrith is firmly evil.
