 The past few months have been glorious for Riombara, finally retaking her old city of Irombro, and finding a peaceful resolution with its people. The Enweilian presence in Athol Margos was crushed, and the banner of the sun was raised over the city at long last. However, the city had payed a dreadful toll after being under the heel of Enweil and the daimons. But 500 peasants were left alive, of that once powerful city. Sir Ercole D`Este was named its new Duke. Not long after, Rines too was retaken, its population a third of what it was. Treasurer Kammar was appointed its Duke. The Southern Island is ours once again! In accordance with law, Treasurer Kammar stepped down from from his post as banker, and Ambassador Mordred was elected in his place. However, Enweil hadn't been idle. It had used the time to attack our ally Hetland, and pillage and rape their regions and peasants. It is up to Riombara to help its northern friend free itself from the Enweilian yoke of oppression.
March 15, 2010 Riombara knew it could not stand by and do nothing while Enweil terrorized its northern ally. Gathering a small, but elite strike force, Riombaran troops penetrated deep into the soft underbelly of Enweil. The force swiftly moved through Lopa, Yncaalo,Uscala,Droxago and Rummannen, collecting the taxes that would line the pockets of the Enweilian tyrants. The Riombaran troops faced no opposition, apart from a few insignificant militia units in Lopa. Bullies are always cowards at heart, and they must be stood up to, and defeated. ~ Mordred Lefanis, Ambassador and High Treasurer of Riombara March 30, 2010 As the spring liberated the land from the tight grip of the cold cold winter, so did the war between Riombara and Enweil resume resulting in the first major conflict since the Enweilian utter defeat in Mio Dupaki. The Army of the Sun faced the combined ducal armies of Fengen and Enweilios on the lush fields of Lopa, outnumbered yet determined to keep Enweil busy in the south and give some breathing space to their allies in the north. Although brave in their charge and enchanting in their panoply, after 2 hours of intense fighting the Riombaran warlords have been driven from the battleground in defeat. Bitter are the wounds from Lopa yet the realization and satisfaction of an important strategical move and sacrifice have exceeded them. However, the symptoms of the Enweilian imperial disease and the decadence of their society was on display shortly afterwards, when two war prisoners of Riombara were tortured in the dark dungeons of the Enweilian sadistic imperial machine. Callandor Harte, a well known traitor to Riombara was responsible for these brutal actions that so dramatically lower the Enweilian perception of justice, casting dark shadows upon them. The most renowned cavaliers and most noble fighters of Riombara were appalled at these news and are clamoring for an honorable retribution. Wether this abomination in the form of an Enweilian definition of justice will be punished and brought before the light remains to be seen, yet it is apparent that this sort of behavior from Enweil is simply the symptom of the beast caged and surrounded, resorting to the lowest actions humanity is capable of. ~ Tristan Gryphonheart, Viscount of Cjelegy
