Letter from Meristenzio Peristaltico
Message sent to the Rulers of East Continent (7 recipients)
Esteemed Rulers of East Continent,

Every single one of you, and each of your realms is now engaged in a war. The war you are engaged into is connected to the rest of the wars on this island, even if maybe more or less deeply.

Because of this, I believe it is relevant for me to update all of you on the diplomatic discussions Sirion has been doing lately, with reference to the answer the nobility of Sirion would like to give to a proposal advanced towards us by Emperor Shady of Obsidian Islands, representing the kingdoms of Westmoor and Perdan as well.

I would like to apologize with Emperor Shady if he does not agree with my choice of bringing this to the attention of all the rulers, but I have explained my reasons and moreover would like the rest of the rulers to clearly understand the motivations behind the decision taken by the nobility of Sirion.

The proposal Emperor Shady put forward is as follows:

Letter from Shady Soulja (3 days, 20 hours ago)

Prime Minister Meristenzio,

Since Perdan, Westmoor and OI do not share a border any kind of region exchange would seem to be out of the question. Instead we could focus not on the physical goods but instead of the form of the treaty and the focus of the future. Such as the details could include the following:

OI/Perdan/Westmoor (will also be know as Allies) Treaty with Sirion:

No troops from Allies will be present in future battles for a minimum of six months unless Sirion attacks one or more of the Allies unprovoked.

Sirion does not send aid to help Ibladesh or Caligus while the Allies do not send aid to Fontan or the Sultanate of Asena. Aid can be descibed as military forces send to help attack, defend or distract, gold and/or food without prior permission from the opposite side.

Allies and Sirion hold at least peace for a minimum of six months, at which time the treaty can be revised to add or subtract terms.

Shady Soulja Emperor of Obsidian Islands

I hereby state that the nobility of Sirion, whom I represent as their Prime Minister, refuses this treaty.

Some of you may be surprised by this answer, and they would think that from a realm that lamented several times the injustice of being attacked by multiple enemies all peace offers should be accepted without hesitation. This is however not the case of Sirion.

We have endured for a very long time a desperate situation and we strenghtened our resolve fighting through overwhelming odds with little chance to retaliate. Those who are now making this offers to us are, between the realms at war with Sirion, exactly those who did not suffer a single bruise during this entire time. Of course I do not forget that they lost hundreds or thousands of soldiers on the battlefields and that maybe even lost noblemen dying heroically, yet their realms have always seen this war from afar.

One day they decided, for more or less valid reasons, that Sirion had to be attacked. And another day, after a while, they decide that this is enough and they do not want to attack Sirion any longer, right when they actually happen to be engaged elsewhere. In this, Sirion appears as nothing else but a training dummy, hit continuously for such a long time that it would be obvious it desires nothing but quit being hit. Sirion will not give them this satisfaction, and does not want this war the so-called Allies are fighting against us to end in nothing, pretending nothing had happened.

Others between our enemies suffered much from the war against Sirion, and we believe they are those who earned the right to discuss a peace treaty with us, for both of us will bear the scars of this war and remember what happened. I am referring to Fontan in particular, but SoA should be included as well. But these Allies that put forward the above reported proposal, they will walk away lightly hearted, free to turn their attention towards those who are now attacking them until the duration of the treaty is over. We will not allow this to happen, and the first step in this direction is refusing this treaty.

In addition, as I have already stated in the past, Sirion honors the alliance with Caligus, and acknowledges the value of the actions they have done in the recent past. Signing this treaty would make Caligus appear nothing but a useful tool for Sirion, a tool that successfully turned the attention of the Allies somewhere else so that Sirion could make peace with those between its enemies that are far from our borders, leaving Caligus to deal with them. This is not how Sirion considers Caligus, and this is another reason for us not to sign this treaty, as a clear sign that we are not detached strangers with respect to the war Caligus is fighting.

I would like to thank Emperor Shady for his politeness and courtesy in approaching me and, even if the outcome of the discussion may not be what he wished for, I would like to stress he has earned my respect for his behavior.

Regards,

Sir Meristenzio Peristaltico

Prime Minister of Sirion
Meristenzio Peristaltico
