Master Ugyel's Vision

“Lady Kisharianda, Master Ugyel has arrived and requested a moment of your time” Kara approached her mistress

Nodding, Kish rose to her feet and headed to the library. Master Ugyel was her teacher for many years, they had met back in Nida in Atamara. He sought her out through a vision he had. Since magick was forbidden in those lands he had sent her to D’Hara ahead of him so he could gather all his things and meet her after she got settled.

Going down the corridor happy to see her Master again Kisharianda was taken by the noises coming from the library, approaching the room she was struck back by what she seen. In the center stood an old man with a balding forehead with long white hair. His thin lips were covered with a mustache that grew well into his white beard. Frowned eyes he talked to himself.

“I know you’re here!” he looked around crouched peeking towards the desk “I will find you” he hissed “and turn you into toad” he chucked to himself. To the right a book fell from the table, turning in it’s direction Ugyel threw a small bolt of light. Kisharianda stunt at his actions, yelled out loud and clear to be heard.

“Master Ugyel” she leaned into the doorway not to alarm him in his current state. Not looking at her Ugyel whispered discreetly “There’s a spy in this room” he continued to inspect “And I’m going to find it!” he grimaced to himself. “It?“ Looking up, Kisharianda’s lips curled upwards into a smile quickly followed by a hand covered chuckle. Swinging lightly above Ugyel half balding head MoMo hung with his little hands reaching to the top of Ugyel’s staff. Laughing she entered the room.

“Master” she tried to contain herself with the discovery of MoMo’s little visit but before she could get close enough to inform Ugyel, another bolt of light was thrown upwards to the chandelier to watch little MoMo being tossed across the room landing quickly on his feet, running to hide under Kisharianda’s long black dress.

Kisharianda kneeling down raised her dress to see MoMo hanging on to both of her ankles with his cold hands. “What are you doing here MoMo” she smiled bringing her hand to scratch his chin as she had seen Cenarious do. MoMo’s half covered head peaked out to spot Ugyel getting closer and grabbed the end of Kisharianda’s gown and wrapped himself in it. Reaching inside she grabbed MoMo and held him close to her chest.

“You know this spy!” Ugyel’s eyes red with fire Nodding her head with a shy smile looked at Ugyel “He’s not a spy Master, It’s MoMo’ she said happy to see him. Ugyel gave a half raised brow looking at MoMo he leaned closer to his face “I could have made you a toad”

Jumping from her arms to her shoulder MoMo stood just about 1 foot tall shaking his tight little fist at Ugyel as if to taunt him. “Let me get him to his master” she chuckled out of the room and met up with Kara “Bring him back to Cenarious’s estate” she kissed the top of MoMo’s head.

Heading back to the room she hugged Ugyel and welcomed him to their new home. "There's a beautiful garden out back, and I have set up the room in the basement as you requested" she smiled Kisharianda had plenty of time to know when something was wrong with Ugyel, she had spent countless hours listening to him tell his tells. And teaching her how to channel the proper energy to use magick responsibly.

“What troubles you Master Ugyel” Kish hugged his neck before sitting on her chair “There’s been a great vision” he stood starring at her excited “One the gods have shown me in my travels here” he walked to a big wooden chest. “There are times of hardship ahead for all the land” reaching inside he pulled out a book and started to ruffle through the pages. “Blood of the dragon, bounded by royal blood” nodding to himself he drifted into a long thought.

“Master Ugyel is everything ok?” she asked confused by his rambling “What” he looked up surprised at the sudden pitch in her voice “Yes, yes child, sit, sit” he came around the desk and sat on the wooden chair “How we’re your travels” she picked a twig from one of the bowls on his desk “Long but insightful” he slapped her hand making her drop the twig “Insightful” she studied his look and quickly caught on that he needed to share something with her.

Ugyel looked at her as he petted his beard thinking “I have had a vision child, one that will do great harm if action is not remedied immediately” he took a long look at his pupil. “The great spirit of Fafnir has come to me in a vision, showing me a future of great destruction, where daemons run lose upon Dwilight, raining fires over the villages and cities, where men, women and children are dying from famine, and plagues, finally setting death to all the humans across the lands” he stood up again and grabbed the book and slapped the dust from under it as he dropped it in front of her.

“I’m not sure I am following you Master” one raised brow looking confused at him “Ah but it will be clear to you as well let me show you” He brought his hand to her face, and struck his staff down.

“Mysteries Old and Futures bright,” “Give this vessel the futures light” “Bring the visions for I see” “Bring them now onto thee”

With the last words spoken Ugyel placed his palm on her forehead, and closed his eyes, emitting energy from his very hands giving her a glimpse of what he was shown. A few moments of silence passed and Kisharianda opened her watery eyes taking a deep breath.

“What was that” she looked up concerned “The future child! The future to come if we don’t take action now” he said as he put his finger down on a page from the dusty old book

Going deep into conversations Ugyel hands motioned big and small gestures, From one book to another he told his student the plan.

“And you see why you are the only one who can perform this ritual and the only one who can bring forth Fafnir in the flesh” he sat in silence while she took it all in.

“You must speak to the queen” he instructed her “And today” he insisted “But Master, they know not of my magick use” she raised from her chair

Struggling to get on his feet he approached her placing his hand on her shoulder “This is why you are here young one, this is your destiny” he paused to reassure her “And if it don’t work you can always brighten up the future by turning them into bunnies” he cackled as he left the room

With his last comment Kisharianda called out for Dmitri. Pacing back and forth she thought of the best approach as this was a delicate matter.

“Milady” the young boy bowed as he entered the room “Dmitri, how fast can you run” She smiled “Very fast Milady” his eyes sparkled with confidence “Good then I need you to run to Queen Katayana’s and ask if I can have an audience with her personally” she instructed the boy as he listened to her every word “Yes Milady” he got up and ran out of the room to the find the Queen.

Katayanna was preparing to leave Port Raviel when Talbot entered.

"Your Majesty, you have a messenger"

Katayanna looked up from organizing the assorted reports. "let him in"

A young lad entered panting ever so slightly.

"Yes, what is so important that you would run all the way here? Who sent you? And what is your name"

Dmitri looked taken aback. 'Why would the Dragon Queen want to know his name?'

"DMitri your Majesty, My Lady, Dame Kisharianda Onyxien, and my Lady wishes to request and audience with you personally." he did well and did not stumble over any of it.

Dame Kisharianda, chooses her retainers well.

Katayanna smiled. "Does She. I would enjoy that. Return to you Lady and tell her that my evening is free and I would enjoy her company this evening."

Katayanna turned to Talbot, "Ensure that Dame Kisharianda Onyxien's name is placed on the guards list of those that will always be granted admittance to me. No matter the time of day or night and I am to be notified when she if here to see me immediately."

Katayanna looked again at the face of Dmitri. Apparently not what he expected. She smiled again.. The Dragon Queen does not always do what is expected.

"Hurry Dmitri, and return to your lady with all I have said."

"Talbot, I will entertain her in the eastern Garden. Communications will be important I have a feeling."

With the Queen accepting the audience, Kisharianda made her way to her estate. Upon her arrival she dry washed her hands and walked to the well guarded entrance. The guard was quick to ask who she was, giving her name the guard called for one of the servants to take her inside. As she entered the queen’s home the servant led her down a corridor, opening two big doors he half bowed showing her in. Finding a chair she sat down but was quickly on her feet as the queen entered the room. As the queen closed the doors behind her Kisharianda felt a sudden urge to run out of the room in fear of having to share her recent knowledge to the Queen but this action was too late.

“My Queen” she bowed to greet her “Thank you for seeing me on such short notice” she smiled nervously. Giving her a soft nod Katayanna sat behind a well carved desk. “What can I do for you Lady Kisharianda” she ran her fingers through a pile of letters and placed them aside giving the two more room to talk.

Swallowing hard Kisharianda looked at the queen “My Queen, I am here this evening because of a dear friend of mine” she paused “my master” she looked up “well not my master, my teacher” she corrected herself” she stopped and felt a rush of nervousness come over her.

“Lady Kisharianda” she smiled “You seems so nervous” she laughed softy “I am your majesty” she took in a deep breath and exhaled to calm her trembling fingers

“My teacher is a well informed man, he has studied in many lands, and has learned of many prophecies. Some old and some that have not yet come to pass. He knows of the history of all of Dwilight as this is his ancestral home. Upon his return, he has shared with me a vision that he has recently had and it must be taken very seriously” she paused and waited for a reaction from the queen.

“Very well, then tell me of this vision” Katayanna sat back into her chair and listened carefully.

“Master Ugyel, has been given a vision of the future by Fafnir himself, a vision which Fafnir showed him an unprotected battle ahead, revealing daemons upon the lands from every corner, famine and sickness to all the men women and children, bringing this land to chaos” she stopped and reached for the drink the servant placed on the table before her.

“Unprotected battle” the queen looked at Kisharianda not quite following her message

“Yes Fafnir has shown Ugyel that with the new Knights and nobles recently arriving that a lot of new blood has been spread across the lands. And Fafnir has shown the consequences of having newly appointed knights and marshal leading man into a battle without the proper anointing of a blessed protection” she paused again looking at the queen with a concerned look “It can lead to the lost of so many honorable men my queen” she felt a load lift from her shoulders as she spoke the last words Katayanna listened to her every word “What do you suggest Lady Kisharianda” she raised a brow

“I know this is a lot of information at once, and I know that you would have every reason to believe that this is non sense, What Fafnir has shown Ugyel is only a vision but at the same time should be taken as a warning” she continued to explain “The ritual will call forth Fafnir as the blood of the great dragon himself is needed for the ritual, and the blood of a King or a Queen is also needed” she smiled at Katayanna “a small prick to the finger my Queen” she smiled again “and a pure woman to perform the whole ceremony

“And where do you find a pure woman able to perform such ritual” Katayanna’s eyes widened with a smile

Kisharianda joining in with a smile of her own blushed at the comment “I have known no man my queen”

“You can perform this ceremony” Katayanna commented surprised

“Yes, I have been studying under Master Ugyel ever since I have become of age and left home, I kept it secret because it wasn’t permitted in those lands. I felt trapped like I wasn’t doing what I was born to do. Master Ugyel put me on the right path, and he has brought me to these lands to help me grow and teach me all that he knows” she took another drink

“This is a protection for your guards my Queen, nothing more then a blessed ceremony performed under a full moon, it brings prosperity, health and protects those who serve the Queen. And this protection will also reflect those who the knights protect with the will of their hearts their families and loved ones as well”

Sitting back more relaxed having shared her secrets with the Queen, Kisharianda waited for a response.

Katayanna realized that she had moved to the edge of her chair. This truly was not what she expected. She had learned long ago not to ignore visions. Especially those concerning Fafnir. This was important and she knew it.

Katayanna looked into the fierce blue eyes of Kisharianda and smiled.

“Let us adjourn to the eastern garden, I have had a table set there for us to eat. I have not eaten yet today and by the sound of your words it will be a long night. As we have much to discuss“

With that Katayanna stood and motioned that Kisharianda should do the same. It was a short walk to the garden as her estate was not large and this was as she liked it. When they arrive in the garden near the great willow that grew there was a small table and two chairs. The scent of Lavender in the air. Katayanna sat in the chair nearest the willow and motioned Kisharianda to take the other.

“I find it very peaceful here. Now, this ritual you speak of. You say it must be done at the full of the moon. What else would you require? If Fafnir has sent a vision then who am I to say that it should not be taken seriously. You may not know this, but Fafnir is my guardian Dragon. And it would not be the first time I have offered my blood up for him.” Katayanna showed Kisharianda the small scar on her left palm from her recent ritual of Dragon Kin for Thalia. That had resulted in the return of her sister from Astrum. Kisharianda appeared to be a little less apprehensive after seeing that the thought of offering her own blood to Fafnir did not faze Katayanna.

Katayanna looked at Kisharianda intently. “I will be leaving for Port Nebel in the morning. All my guards will be there as will Thalia and our new marshal and the Queen’s Dragon Guard. Will you be able to perform the ritual there? And I too have been having dreams that are more restless than normal. This is normally not a good sign. I thought it due to the trouble we are having with the TO of Port Nebel, but maybe there is more to it” Katayanna poured Kisharianda a glass of ale and offered some of the other refreshments placed on the table to her as well.

“I am so sorry; your news took me a bit off guard. I have been a poor hostess. Please drink and eat, and enjoy the peace of my sanctuary.” Katayanna leaned back taking a sip of her own ale and waited for Kisharianda to take in what she had said.

While Katayanna and Kisharianda were talking. Talbot walked out to them holding a letter and seeming a bit puzzled.

"Your Majesty, Please pardon my intrusion. A letter has just arrived via messenger. Armed messenger Your majesty. I was to deliver it to you immediately."

Talbot looked a bit nervous. "Majesty they threatened to do awful things if I failed to do so. They said that it was from your family and that their orders were very specific. Majesty, they are from no lands of Dwilight and their armor bears you family crest."

Katayanna was very annoyed that someone even from her family would treat one of her retainers thus. took the letter and stood to go deal with these "messengers".

wait, it was from her Brother Kellaine. She opened the letter and read it half aloud.

Dearest Jon Paul and Katayanna,

It is my sad duty to inform you that our father has passed on and is now flying with the great Dragons. We all knew that this would someday happen. The message I received is that he was killed while defending our family estate from Undead. Unfortunately his body had to be burned to ensure that he did not become what he was fighting when he died. This is a great blow to our family. Paul Ogren was a great man. I will find it hard to fill his shoes. I have performed the ritual of passage as he taught me. I am now patriarch of the Ogren family. There will be a small ceremony in 2 days time for our father. I will not be able to attend as his final letter to me had me give up my Lordship in KoA and travel to Arcaea where I am to serve King Bedwyr. This same set of family orders also required me to swear family loyalty to the Bedwyr family increasing the ties between our two families. I am still working out what his plan was, but we have all learned long ago that Paul never did anything without a reason. The last wishes of our father will be adhered to in the strictest sense of the word. If a Bedwyr asks for your assistance you are to give it, and I have to assume that the reverse is true as well. This was done with all four dragons as witnesses to our(my) oath. And sealed by the blood of both King Bedwyr and myself. Jon Paul, you are to head to our family estate at your earliest convenience and return the family sword that you will find accompanying this letter. I do not have to tell you to guard that blade with your life. We all know that you will.

Till we meet again,

Honor in Service, Serve with Honor, Sir Kellaine Ogren Patriarch of house Ogren

Katayanna dropped the letter and feinted.

Kisharianda stood there in a panic, not knowing what to do, her first reaction was to go to the Queen. Kneeling down beside her she carefully rested her head on her lap, and quickly called for help. Alarmed by her cry six guards swarmed the garden in a matter of seconds fully armed with their swords in hand, behind the guards followed 3 more servants to see what was going on.

Fanning the Queen with her hand she tried to wake her up

“My Queen” she said softly slapping her cheek

“My Queen” she called out again without any response, looking up stood the six angry guards, uneasy Kisharianda smiled as one of them moved in closer on her

“What is the meaning of this, what has happened to the Queen signaling the other men to look around the garden for any intruders

“She received a letter, read it and then she feinted” she looked down at the Queen as she slowly started coming to

“Get her some water, and bring a chair” she ordered the help like they were her own

“My Queen did you hurt yourself” She helped the guard bring her back to her feet and to the chair

“My Queen is everything alright” Kisharianda’s eyes filled with concerned poured a glass of water and hand it to her, continuing to fan her with a folder napkin.

Katayanna still dizzy sipped at the water from the glass pressed to her lips. Memory returning slowly, tears flowed down her cheeks.

“Father! Farewell.” She whispered softly.

She started to take in her surroundings. She was still in the garden. Kisharianda was fanning her with a napkin, a guard stood before her with a look of concern, and she thought she could hear others in the area that appeared to be looking for something.

“Captain Halmaan, what is going on?”The captain looked even more puzzled. “Majesty, we heard a cry of alarm and came running. I know not but what your companion has stated. That you received a letter and feinted after reading it.” Just then the captain noticed the letter on the ground and picked it up and handed it to Katayanna.

Katayanna stared at the letter offered and took it with hesitation.

“Captain, the swiftness with which you reacted does you credit. There is no intruder. I have just received news that my father has passed from this world and it was a shock. I shall be fine, thank you, you may return to your duties” Just then Katayanna noticed Talbot standing off to the side a look of complete horror on her face. “Come here girl, fetch me a bottle of my family mead and 2 glasses.” This brought Talbot to her senses. “Yes Majesty, right away Majesty” She hurried off thankful for something to do. Katayanna turned to Kisharianda as the others left and handed the letter over to her.

“During the ritual of protection, while Fafnir is present, can you, would you honor me with a ritual of parting. Kellaine says that the family rite has been done according to our traditions, but to have a personal chance to celebrate his life and say farewell will do me good personally.” It was Katayanna’s turn to nervously await response.

Honored by the request of the Queen, Kisharianda eyes quickly found the letter and read it's contents. Saddened by its contents, she put her hand on top of the Queen's as she returned the letter "It would be a great honor My Queen to have a ceremony honoring the life of your father.

Kisharianda was pleased that the Queen would put such a delicate matter into her hands. "I will see to the ritual myself" looking at the Queen smile at her happy with her response she returned her gratitude with a warm smile.

The evening was quiet, both woman sat in the garden sipping on the mead. Talking with the Queen on personal matters made her see Katayanna in a different light, beneath the crown was a deep, intellectual, truthful individual who shown a great respect for for life itself. They shared a deep emotional connection on many matters and the respect Kisharianda felt for the Queen double in matter of hours.

"I know your evening has been very eventful, and I'm sure you seek solitude for yourself to gather your thoughts" Kisharianda sat at the end of her chair.

"If I may just have one request from you" she smiled

"I would need for you to send request to the men you wish to attend the ceremony, it is also important that only those who will receive the blessing be present at this ritual, any others will cause the balance to be at risk" she stood from her chair and walked to the Queen

"And I would also need for you to wear a white dress, for the parting ritual" she smiled again "As for the rest of the ceremony and ingredients needed for the ritual I have everything I need at home, Master Ugyel will help in collecting them all"

"I will see myself out my Queen, may this night find you peaceful rest" she bowed as the Queen caulked her head looking at Kisharianda show her respect
