Chapter Five: The End of Madness

While nothing concrete has ever been found to verify quite how the saga ended, records from after the time show that he did in fact survive.

Some unreliable fragments indicate that in his travels southward, they made to attack a band of monsters that barricaded their route south. However they were beset by both the weather and a large crypt of undead (which would be devastating to archers). On some faded texts the words "Shoka" can be made out. Scholars that consider these fragments valid theorise that at this point he saw the folly of his actions and returned to Caerwyn, a broken man, but somewhat more sane than he had been for quite a while. An inauspicious end to the saga, but no doubt better than the alternative - that he would have actually reached the daemons!

Scribe Denareous notes in his memoirs that Brackern was said to become a devout follower of Verdis Elementum on his return, eschewing the life of politics and war until such a time as he could return to the arena once more sound of mind and body. This is but a side note in his book, and says nothing more about the times, however.

The search continues for more definitive documentation from this time, but with little success. It is almost as though the documents have been destroyed regarding this ignominious end...
