History

The O'Faolain family hails from Bbandasdor in the northwest reaches of Dwilight, though its origin is shrouded in mystery. The current head of the family, Niall MacAodh O'Faolain, traces his lineage back four generations to Lasair O'Faolain, the first of the family to step foot on the shores of Dwilight. However, no further accounts of Lasair now exist; not long after the birth of Lasair's only child, monsters swarmed the family homestead; of Lasair and his household, only the young Olcán survived. Olcán was rescued from the ruins by a fisherman from a village not far up the coast, who raised him as a son; the only identifying mark he carried, he wore around his neck: a ring bearing the iconic O'Faolain wolf's-head crest and engraved with the family name. This has since been passed down as a family treasure to the eldest son at his birth and is now carried by Eoghan MacNiall O'Faolain.

Overview

The O'Faolain family reclaimed its birthright by the hand of Niall MacAodh in Bbandasdor; like other nobles of that region, the O'Faolain family raises and breeds high-quality horses on its estate; however, the family has not forgotten its roots, and many members of the family feel drawn to the sea; it is not uncommon for the men of the family to choose to fish, rather than stay on at the family estate. The family has since fallen upon hard times and died out in the male line due to illness and war. It is survived by the cadet MacGeil family.

Niall MacAodh O'Faolain

Niall MacAodh is the patriarch of the O'Faolain family, and the one by whose hard work the O'Faolain family claimed its birthright and joined the ranks of nobility. He resides at the family estate and oversees the ranch. He has three sons: the eldest Eoghan, Oilithir, and the youngest Ronan. He also has two young daughters, the elder Treasa, and the younger Geileis.

Eoghan MacNiall O'Faolain

Eoghan MacNiall is the first son of Niall MacAodh, and is the first O'Faolain to leave the family estate to swear fealty to a lord and become a knight. He is also the first O'Faolain to be appointed to a military leadership position, and the only current O'Faolain Hero. In addition, he is the first O'Faolain elected to a governmental position (Banker and General), the first O'Faolain Lord and first O'Faolain Duke.

Eoghan is Count of Jorradith and Duke of Gaston in the realm of Iashalur. He is a Commander of the Order of Sanguis Astroism, and Grandmaster of the Astroist Order of the Palm.

Oilithir MacNiall O'Faolain

Oilithir is the second son of Niall MacAodh; he is the first O'Faolain to journey to Atamara, and the first to set foot on Beluaterra. He is also the first O'Faolain Courtier.

Oilithir is Count of Ircymbar in the realm of Old Grehk, on Beluaterra.

Ronan MacNiall O'Faolain

Ronan is the third son of Niall MacAodh; he journeyed to Atamara in search of his brother Oilithir despite his fear of the ocean. Finding no trace of him there, he stayed in Atamara as a knight.

Ronan is a knight of Dampinn in the realm of Suville, Atamara.

Geleis Nic Niall O'Faolain

Geleis is the second daugther and fifth child of Niall MacAodh; when the O'Faolain family fell upon hard times, she was sent by her brother Eoghan to seek refuge in Corsanctum. She settled in Unterstrom and became the progenitor of a cadet branch: the MacGeil family.
