Dragon-spawn and Children: Undead View

Here is a short series of random beliefs and ideas the Ancestors have about the other factions of the fight. Since they are second hand accounts they are far less reliable, but any information is better then nothing.

Daimons, Dragon-Spawn

The winged beasts are rumoured to be descendants of the Great Dragon that the living and undead slew long ago...in fact, that Dragon's head is stuffed, and used as a foot rest for my master. Quite an interesting piece of furniture--and history. We slew the Great Dragon together, long ago. That was the only human/undead campaign in our histories, thus far. We made a pact to never be a slave to anyone, and embraced our dependant futures. We would watch over the shadows, and humans would watch over the living...100 years passed, and we were forgotten...this is the problems with human's "secrecy" issues. Only the leaders knew, they died, and well..stuff got lost.

It is this account that has led scholars to call the daimons dragon-spawn, and suggest the theory presented in the Politics and Government of the Abyss book about a possible timeline.

"You also seek weapons from our fields and peasants, will such mundane tools work against these creatures"

Absolutely. Any weapon in the hand of a skilled warrior is deadly. I know 32 different ways on how to kill a human being with only a wooden spoon. Given that a wooden spoon wouldn't do much to the winged beasts, but you get the point. A few spears, shields and swords...and we got one hell of a surprise lined up for those beasts. ~General Sarge, Ancestor Legion

It is interesting to note that no special weapon or material any more effective against the dragon-spawn then the common sword. It is puzzling since artefacts have proven to be very effective indeed which has led to the suggestion that it is some otherworldly quality all artefacts possess that gives them their strength. Magic, as listed in Magic: Existence Proven, is the first guess, with the Shadowland nature of all items being a close second.

The next part deals with a translation of a conversation between the dragon-spawn Unspeakable and the Child Drool:

The exchange between the monster leader Drool and the Daimon Unspeakable progresses, in a language unknown and unpronounceable by any humans.

As the exchange apparently gets more heated, Unspeakable begins to chant, singing in chords beyond the human range, and in tones that hurt the ears and soul.

As he sings, the sky itself appears to split open, and another two dozen Daimons join his ranks.

Then he? it? turns to the monsters and says:

deue sumagn endcyretel of ingable helven procils es, obsight comescatent, nest whimond num, que dacconto!

It is nothing new. It is merely the Daemons telling the monsters that nothing will come between their feeding and nesting of this Island. It would appear that the monsters are trying to make a desperate attempt at finding favour with them again, but all toys played with, are outgrown at some point and time...

Pawns, the poor bastards were only pawns from the start, as we had said. Now they will be consumed by the fire as well..unless, of course, it is all a rouse. Who knows?

The daimons seek to turn this Island into their nesting/feeding/breeding grounds. In every message they laugh at us, and call us pathetic, etc. They will destroy most of this Island, unfortunately, but they will not defeat us so long as we stick together. They will be slew, once again by the combined forces of Mankind--well, almost entirely combined. We do have the monsters and their corrupted realms...~General Sarge, Ancestor Legion

Well...I suspect the Daimons are actually here to destroy us.

The Undead army I fear has been lured away from the capital, we are too far to turn back if they invade the heart of our empire...so if they attack via this southern route, we will be in serious trouble...but this is speculation. ~General Vicious, Ancestor Legion

The dismissive attitude of the Ancestors towards the Children is puzzling since many times in the past undead and Children have been seen fighting together. What this means is still uncertin however.

All I can tell you is...that we are in big trouble if Humanity doesn't stop the Daimons in the South...

Remember what I warned about, the mind control? Don't trust any Daimon. They are the enemy of Humanity. However, our own minds are protected through powerful relics and The One--whom is now desperately holding off against the Daimons we assume with the limited support of the other undead commanders that were previously on this Island.

Most of our troops are in the North...forcing the Daimons to the surface...but now we are a bit screwed, aren't we? It appears that Sarge may of been right. Time will tell.

Since we have not gotten any reports from the Abyss, this is all speculation. The only 3 things we know are this 1. Daimons are missing from where our Gates are located in the South that lead to the heart of our unprotected Empire, 2. The Daimons are trying to enslave humanity because we slew their master long ago (proof because we can resurrect Daimonicly possessed leaders as seen with Jonathan) and 3. Our army was chasing down the Monsters and Daimons to the North-East and North-West.

The Mosters have successfully jeopardized the fate of Humanity, and nearly sealed our own...if Sarge's assumptions are correct, that is. ~General Vicious, Ancestor Legion

Well...I was being possessed by the Daimons. I was aware of what was going on, and I desperately wished to be killed. I know not what I did freely, or by their command. It is a terrible feeling, and only death can set you free from their clutches...that I know of. There be no secrecy. Just few of us left here, and few reports from the Abyss coming in...something is terribly wrong. ~ Jonathan, reclaimed soul.

The talk of mind control is not encouraging at all, but it does put the recient events between the various rulers into a different light.

Monsters, Children of the Old Gods

The monsters are merely puppets of the Daemons, their role is to undermine us in many respects. Their bites infect the bodies of those they claim, and we lose not one potential ally, but two so to speak. They are also very powerful, but not very organized...we can slay them very easily, but with humans at their side so to speak, they become a very dangerous enemy. Would you ally a wolf in sheep's clothing? Not us. Not ever, we need only our living counterparts....no one else.

This is confidential information for your eyes only. Just keep them in mind when the time comes, for it shall.

The Monsters and Daimons are making a harsh counterattack in the Abyss. The stupid monsters are playing dirty games here, and we suspect that they seek to weaken both the Daimons and undead enough to where they can make a clean sweep and enslave mankind by using the Daimons' strength and desire for revenge.

We have ignored the Monsters too long, and as undead commanders get freed up here (ie all our reserves on this Island are depleted) they will be returning Home to help us deal with this threat. It make take us a few days, weeks or months to finish them off. But you must have faith, and not forget us when we return. The Monsters are cowards, and they will not face us down in the Abyss once we slay all their Daimon cronies.

Kill them up here when we leave, and we will do our best to make sure no more come, but a huge war will break out between the fleeing enemies of the Undead...be they monsters or leftover Daimons. ~ Jonathan, reclaimed soul.

The war is raging quite strongly in the abyss...the monsters have sent in tons of reinforcements (do you see many of them on the Island anymore?) and are starting to tilt a difficult victory, into a "next to impossible" one...why are they doing this...could it really be revenge against us for being their former masters? Could that be it?

Will they be happy when we are defeated and destroyed, and with the Daimons severely weakened, will they come back to this Island, hail themselves as your saviors...these damned Brutes (ooc: Halo 2 hehe) have some sort of agenda, and they jeapordize this entire island to do it... ~ General Sarge, Ancestor Legion.

How much is truth and how much guesswork? It is hard to say, but it is a place to start none the less.
