McDugan Family/Roderick

Adopted into the family at an early age, Roderick has always felt somewhat outcast from the rest of the family and always needed to be the best to prove that he wasn't a burden. Since he and Fredrich are nearly the same age, the rivalry between them was greater than with anyone else. So, when Fredrich went off to join Minas Ithil in the war against Eston, Roderick knew that he needed to do one better. He gathered his things and set off from the family mansion towards the East Continent where the near constant warfare would allow him to prove his worth, no matter the cost.

Roderick chose to settle in Caligus and help the realm fight off the Yssarian threat. Having proved his skill as a leader and bravery against his foes, he was allowed to join the Royal Foxes of Caligus.

Personality Traits

• He always feels the need to prove himself better. Stronger, smarter, more famous, government positions you name it, he wants it.

• Opportunistic. He sees nothing wrong with obtaining a position through deceit, trickery, or other underhanded tactics. However, he prefers smaller, more subtle measures rather than an aggressive rebellion. Also, he prefers joining another's plot rather than starting one on his own as it always provides a scapegoat, just in case. He prefers not joining a conversation on important, controversial topics, yet will quietly listen as he gathers information for later use.

• On the outside, he may seem like an average person, perhaps even friendly at times, if rather quiet at others. Just remember, it is likely a set-up. He knows that friends are needed in this world to accomplish much, and friends aren't gained by acting evil to their face once he meets them.
