Waking from his slumber Magnus was filled with a vision of Man, and rising from the depths of the Ash Sea where he had made his home did Magnus find Men swimming in the oceans, struggling for the shores of the isles. Seeing that his children were weak, and without will Magnus imparted unto some of them his power. Strengthened by Magnus they carried the people onto the shores, and thus did they become the Lords of Men. Cities were built upon the isles, and the people spread out onto the land, some yearning for the sea made ships and carried themselves far into the distance past the horizon.

All this the Guardians watched in amazement, though one felt slighted. Calamar gazing from the depths saw the peoples struggling and witnessed Magnus' power be infused into the Men. Enraged he struck out at the Men who had weakened his Lord, but Magnus brutally stopped him. Humiliated, Calamar sought the counsel of the other Guardians, and asked each of them for some of their divine power. Glaux, Nymkos, and Bezoar assented and granted to him their strength. Thus did Calamar's betrayl of Magnus begin.

A battle raged for aeons, and those Guardians who had not betrayed their Lord did battle upon the others. Men witnessed these great events, and the Lords of Men ever mindful of Magnus' gift to them took up arms, and drove back the betrayers, forcing them deep into the uncharted wilderness. There did they hide, but Calamar emboldened by his new-found power thought to overcome Magnus, but the strength of Magnus was too much. Soon Magnus set about the binding of Calamar, and it is here the story of the Falasanites begins.
