Luria Nova/Zajar's Brief History

This letter was written by Zajar Essenhorn the then Imperial Marshal of Luria Nova. The time of writing was several years after the Southern League war and subsequent war in the north to create Westfold. It is in response to a young Knight writing the realm at large and inquiring to a brief history.

Sir Colin,

A heartfelt welcome to Luria Nova. We have had a hell of a time these last few years. Several years ago the western part of the continent was overrun with monsters and the undead and we took in a lot of refugee nobility. This irked the ire of other realms and we fought off an invasion by all the realms on the continent, barring one. This war is known as the Great Invasion and lasted for several years, we came close to ceasing to exist.

After emerging victorious we assisted the refugees in carving out territory in the north for their respective realm, Westfold. This was part of our promise to them, which we made back during the Great Invasion. Most of them made for Westfold and we accepted peace with the northern realms.

During this time monsters and undead started to emerge in our lands at an alarming rate, easily tripling the usual amount. They ravaged our lands and turned many of the regions into rogue lands. The fighting was relentless, their numbers never lessening and we lost many, many good nobles and Freeman warriors to the cause.

Only in these last few months have we finally been able to beat them back and we are slowly reclaiming our lands. It has been hard, bloody, and frankly utter desperate work, but it would appear our burdens have lighten some.

Years of war and disaster summed up in a single letter, the irony. Take solace that this leaves opportunity aplenty for a young and aspiring Knight such as yourself. Good fortune to you.
