Monster Invasion(i): Battle-Hardened Soldiers Seek Refuge

A group of battered yet battle-hardened soldiers, survivors of the eastern onslaught, have arrived in your estate, determined to lend their aid in the face of impending peril. These valiant warriors stand ready to bolster your defenses during the monster invasion, offering their experience and resolve to help safeguard your lands.

As they gather within your estate, these brave defenders bring with them disconcerting news – some of the relentless monsters have been tailing them from the fallen eastern defense line. The encroaching threat draws ever nearer, and it won't be long before your estate must confront the looming menace head-on. Prepare for the impending clash!

Monster Invasion(ii): Scout Reports on Incoming Threats

Two crucial reports have reached your estate via vigilant scouts, shedding light on the encroaching menace.

The first report arrives from a resourceful scout perched atop the highest vantage point nearby. From this lofty position, they observe a grim spectacle: several massive monsters relentlessly pursue smaller prey, intent on sating their insatiable hunger. The smaller creatures, mindful of their formidable pursuers, maintain a cautious distance for now. However, it is only a matter of time before the large predators turn their attention toward any available food source, which could spell dire consequences for the people in their path.

The second report, dispatched by a scout concealed within a hunters' hideout, concerns a specific group of monsters known as 'Crags.' These creatures, despite their diminutive size, boast formidable, craggy shells and a set of eight sturdy legs that grant them swift mobility. Approximately two dozen of these Crags are advancing directly toward your estate. While individually manageable, these creatures pose a considerable threat when they swarm a victim. It is a race against time to decide whether to confront them outside your walls or face them within the safety of your fortifications. The choice is yours, and you may also consider innovative strategies to address this imminent danger.

Outcome: Fending Off the Crag Menace

With quick thinking and decisive action, you order your men to defend your estate from the approaching Crags behind the fortified walls. These diminutive but sturdy monsters attempt to find a point of entry along the walls, scouring for any vulnerability. However, your well-constructed fortifications leave them frustrated and unable to breach your defenses.

Frustrated by their unsuccessful attempts to infiltrate your estate, the Crags resort to a destructive approach, attempting to dismantle your wooden walls to gain entry. In response, your resourceful defenders pour scalding hot water upon them, followed by a barrage of arrows. Although the Crags' craggy shells deflect most of the arrows, the scalding water proves highly effective. Several Crags fall victim to your defense, and the rest are promptly driven away.

While your walls have suffered some damage, they remain sturdy and intact. Your prompt and resourceful actions have successfully repelled the initial Crags attack, protecting your estate from harm. Everyone in your estate is elated by the successful repulsion of the Crags, without a single casualty.

Refugees Embrace the New Faith and Join as Vigilantes

Inspired by the bravery displayed during the battle against the Crags, a growing number of Wicrosian refugees in your estate choose to convert and embrace the new faith. As they adopt this religion, they are also driven by a sense of duty to protect their newfound home.

With hearts filled with faith and resolve, these refugees willingly join the ranks of your vigilantes, eager to bolster the defense against the looming monster threat. Their conversion not only strengthens your spiritual community but also provides additional manpower to stand against the impending invasion. Your estate's unity and determination continue to grow as you prepare for the challenging times ahead.

Monster Invasion(iii): Preparing for the Monster Attack

As news of the impending monster attack spreads like wildfire throughout your estate, the leaders of your community quickly gather around you to discuss the best course of action. One of the elder figures steps forward and reports that you have enough manpower to focus on one of two key strategies: either reinforcing your walls and gates or setting up a series of traps throughout your estate.

The influential merchant leader chimes in, suggesting that you could also allocate your last remaining gold to better equip your vigilantes. Given that your soldiers are still on their way back from Rojak's estate and might not arrive in time, the vigilantes will be your first line of defense. This decision is pivotal, as the fate of your estate hangs in the balance. How will you choose to prepare for the imminent monster attack?

Preparation: Fortifying Defenses and Equipping Vigilantes

With the imminent monster invasion on the horizon, you direct your people to focus their efforts on reinforcing the walls and gates of your estate. This added protection is vital in keeping the monsters at bay.

Additionally, you make the wise decision to invest your last coin in improving the equipment of your vigilantes. While it may not fully equip all of them, it significantly enhances their capabilities, making them better prepared to face the impending threat.

Your practical approach to defense resonates with your people. They appreciate your commitment to their safety and admire your resourcefulness, which bolsters their confidence as they prepare for the challenging times ahead.

Outcome: Defending Against the Grey Giants

As you observe the horizon, the approaching monsters come into view, and your heart sinks as they mercilessly hunt down a group of fleeing soldiers. You swiftly order the gates to be closed and your defenders to prepare for the impending battle. These formidable adversaries are humanoid monsters, towering grey giants who are typically solitary creatures, but in this instance, they are led by a colossal red giant who stands out among the rest.

Your soldiers open fire once the giants enter their range, and the giants attempt to shield themselves with stolen soldiers' shields, but their immense size leaves vulnerable spots exposed. Arrows find these openings, inflicting damage. Recognizing that arrows won't be enough, your soldiers prepare boiling oil. As the giants approach the walls, your defenders deploy pikes to keep them at bay. However, the giants pay little attention to the pikes and try to climb the walls, only to be met with cascading, scalding oil. Even these stoic giants cannot endure the pain and panic as they scream and fall from the walls, where torches are thrown to finish them off.

The red giant, standing in the rear, issues a thunderous shout, which compels the grey giants to continue their attack despite the boiling oil. The battle rages on, and although the defenders manage to bring down half of the giants using the oil, they eventually run out, leaving them with pikes and arrows. The battle intensifies, with defenders landing deadly blows on the giants, but some giants manage to damage the fortifications and climb over the walls to engage the defenders directly.

After several hours of fierce combat, the red giant bellows once more, and the grey giants, battered and bloodied, withdraw. It's uncertain whether they will return, but the victory comes at a significant cost. The fortifications are severely damaged, and many lives have been lost. While your defenders have slain 13 of the 20 giants, four units of vigilantes have perished in the battle.

The locals, while relieved by the victory, are well aware that it's too early to celebrate. The red giant and the remaining grey giants are still lurking outside, and their next attack is uncertain. Soldiers clean the walls, and you order the gathering of the dead grey giants. While those vanquished with boiling oil are too damaged to salvage, the ones defeated with pikes and arrows are more intact and valuable. Local and foreign merchants offer 2 gold per giant, providing a total of 6 gold for your estate. This income is a welcome boon amidst the grim aftermath of the battle.

Monster Invasion(Demolisher): Unearthing the Enigma Within the Demolisher

Dividing your men into two groups to tackle the imposing Demolisher, one faction busies itself by filling the pits that have entrapped the monster's broken legs with a viscous mixture of mud and tar. This strategic move is intended to hinder the creature's ability to rise should it recover enough to move again.

Meanwhile, the second group, delving deeper into the mountainous shell of the Demolisher, makes an astonishing find. Within the beast's cavernous innards, they stumble upon a peculiar discovery – a chamber adorned with brilliant red ores that emit a strange and eerie glow. Surrounding these ores are sizable blue sacks connected to thick veins, continuously pulsating with a mysterious, ever-moving liquid.

As your men ponder the nature of these bizarre findings, they return to you, seeking your guidance and insight on how to proceed with the mysterious red ores and the pulsating blue sacks. What decisions will you make regarding these extraordinary elements discovered within the Demolisher's massive frame?
